About the Role

  • The Food Safety & Document System Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing quality standards related to food safety, customer, religious, and sustainability standards in the plant. The mission of the FS & DS manager is to ensure that quality processes are formalized and compliant with corporate, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • The FS & DS manager leads the implementation of the Quality management system to ensure the improvement of Food Safety compliance and the development of a quality mindset. The FS & DS manager ensures Food Safety risk prevention and management on a daily basis, ensures daily excellence in execution, and drives change to achieve improved quality standards. Respecting and promoting people's safety standards are part of this job.
  • The FS & DS manager links and collaborates with the local QA team, plant manager and operational managers, maintenance and facility teams. Other important stakeholders are engineering, R&D, and global Food Safety roles.
    Key Responsibilities Include

_Drive and support the Implementation of new or improved food safety, religious, and sustainability standards_

  • Driving the implementation of Hazard control plan, Barry Callebaut, GSFI, FDA, religious, sustainability, and customer standards and procedures
  • Lead and guarantee proper FS risk assessment and define efficient means of control
  • Ensure FS system efficiency through well organized & managed Quality audits
  • Ensure implementation & proper functioning of raw materials, packaging & final product traceability
  • Follow up on corrective actions and verify the effectiveness of implemented measures.
  • Supporting other functions to achieve compliance with the abovementioned standards
  • Raise quality awareness of all employees by ensuring training of local staff to achieve the food safety and quality systems objectives
  • Supporting and Replacing the Quality Assurance Manager in crisis management
  • Follow up on local food regulations, escalate if required, and integrate local food safety standards to ensure compliance
  • Build, implement, verify & supervise the Hazard control system for existing, new, modified products and lines
  • Provide expert advice to other functions
  • Handle customer and thirdparty audits

_Drive improvement and maintenance of local quality systems_

  • Initiate and lead qualityrelated improvement and problemsolving teams using root cause problemsolving tools such as 5 Why and Ishikawa analysis
  • Lead the Pest control management system
  • Carry out trend analysis and statistical data review to develop improvement plans
  • KPI reporting to lead the business to the right FS priorities
  • Coaching on & facilitating risk analysis of incidents
  • Contribute to cost and efficiency improvement activities, taking into account quality requirements
  • Maintain & improve usage of local DMS (Document management system)
  • Supporting and Replacing the Quality Manager in external audits handling

_Project Management_

  • Understand, review, and provide feedback on the impact of projects on management systems (e.g. Hazard control plan, FSSC 22000, PEM, Customer & Sustainability standards).
  • Adapt and validate quality plans and systems to address changed or new ingredients, products, processes, and production environment
  • Participate at meetings effectively, liaise with stakeholders, and communicate and interact actively with all functions

About You

  • Master in Food Science or Engineering or equivalent
  • Fluent in the local language. Mastering English is a requirement.
  • 710 years of experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety in an international food, pharmaceutical, or feed company
  • Experience working with the design and implementation of food safety plans/programs
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Management, Hazard control management, GMPs (Hygiene practices, Sanitation, Environmental Monitoring, Pest Control etc), FSSC 22000), FDA
  • Auditor skills
