Senior Environmental Policy Expert:

We at Yara are part of a global network, collaborating to profitably and responsibly solve some of the world's key challenges - resource scarcity, food insecurity and environmental change.


About the Unit:

The Corporate HESQ team develops governance and common standards and exchanges information for the HESQ area.

HESQ also monitors, advises and assists all Yara's units to ensure that the activities are carried out in conformity with statutory regulations and the HESQ requirements laid down in the Steering System.

The HESQ governance covers occupational health and safety, process safety, environment, security, emergency preparedness, product stewardship and chemical compliance.


The HESQ environmental team establishes Yara's environmental governance standards, assesses our environmental impact and risk, and follows up and reports of our environmental performance to internal and external stakeholders.


To strenghen our team, we are currently looking for a Senior Environmental Policy Expert, who will be the highest global Yara expert in the job discipline of environmental regulations and related compliance obligations.


Responsibilities:

- monitor development of environmental policies (excluding greenhouse gas and energy policies) in the EU and other key jurisdictions relevant for Yara's operations and to anticipate related business impact
- shape Yara's positions to promote environmental sustainability and Yara's interests in development of governmental policies and industry standards in collaboration with Yara Public Affairs, other expert functions, the Yara regions, global and European industry associations, and other relevant units
- ascertain timely awareness and knowledge of upcoming environmental regulations and policies at Yara management, in the regions and business units and relevant corporate functions
- manage proactive business impact assessment, identification of compliance risks and business opportunities and timely planning for compliance strategies by involving relevant stakeholders
- leading Yara task forces and projects for key new environmental regulations to ensure that resources are allocated and to assure that solutions are developed for the new environmental compliance requirements,
- support Yara's units and functions with environmental expertise in business decisions and in identifying, solving and managing regulatory issues of notable risk or complexicity, including environmental permitting processes, contractual obligations, due diligence considerations and accounting of environmental liabilities


The task requires a collaborative, ambitious, accountable and curious way of working
- to support Yara's compliant and sustainable transformation towards Climate Neutrality and Nature Positive
- to work across several business units, functions and interest groups to create common understanding and make fact-based decisions on environmental requirements
- to align with internal and external needs and roles and strategies of other functions
- to lead Yara in adapating to stricter and more complex environmental regulatory frameworks
- to actively share knowledge with relevant functions and organizations in Yara


Profile:


  • University degree in science or law with expertise in environmental policies
  • Minimum 510 years of experience in contributing to environmental policy development processes in international or regional domain and managing environmental regulatory processes in industrial companies preferably in the chemicals or food / agri sector.
  • Demonstrated experience with the environmental regulatory framework and how it is applied to global industrial operations in production, global supply chains and diverse product use and customer portfolio.
  • Strong conceptual and structural knowledge of environmental regulatory frameworks and processes in the EU or in other developed jurisdictions.
  • Ability to work across seniorlevel leader from various interest groups to influence regulatory changes and updates to business processes and standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent teamwork, leadership, communication, influencing and change management skills.
Proactive and self-motivated. Capoable to work independently.

  • Ability to effectively work with a diverse global workforce.
  • Ability to travel as required in support of position responsibilities
