Summary
The Technical Officer will play a key role in supporting the development of CO2 Value Europe's (CVE) technical, market and scientific intelligence.
She/He will be closely working with all the departments and will be referring to the Scientific Director and the Secretary General.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitoring the development and maturity status of carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) technologies for the production of fuels, chemicals and materials.
- Data analysis (including but not limited to GHG emissions, energy requirements, CO2 availability, production costs, etc.), statistical treatment and compilation of technical reports on the deployment of CCU technologies.
- Managing CVE's database on companies, projects, technologies.
- Monitoring, understanding and communicating to members about opportunities for private and public funding.
- Monitoring market developments for CCU products and their alternatives.
- Translation of policy goals into quantified information and evidencebased projections on CCU deployment.
- Support the drafting of CVE's positions, presentations and communication activities with background evidence.
- Monitoring of scientific and nonscientific literature.
- Representation of CVE at technical working groups internally and externally.
Profile
Job requirements:
- University degree in chemical, industrial, engineering, environmental sciences, environmental economics, or similar disciplines.
- 35 years' experience in data analysis, industrial production systems, cleantech R&D or similar position.
- Statistics, database management and basic modeling/programming skills
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Ability to develop appropriate quantified indicators to explain complex technical issues.
- Strong interest in climate change, sustainability and energy transition issues.
- Capacity to learn fast and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
- Easiness in contact with members and external stakeholders.
- Collegial, proactive, organised, flexible, initiativedriven, team worker.
Desirable criteria:
- Understanding of climate and energy system modeling
- Experience in membershipbased organisation and understanding of the functioning of the EU institutions.
- Knowledge of any other European languages.
Contract and location:
Fulltime position on a 2 years contract with possibility for extension. A five-month evaluation period will be applied.
The position is based in Brussels, but remote working is possible. Some business travels mainly within Europe should be considered. Flexibility in working time and place is required.
Starting date:
as soon as possible
Clearance to work in the EU without further formalities is a pre-requisite.
