- Design and develop scalable and high-quality software solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new features
- Build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
- Participate in refinement meetings and code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to best practices
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the Smappee products and its functionalities
- Collaborate closely with the complete R&D department (product owners, app- and frontend developers, firmware engineers, software testers, etc.) to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- At least five years of background as a backend software engineer
- Proficiency in Java and related frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate)
- Experience with communication protocols such as Kafka and MQTT
- Knowledge of MySQL database systems
- Prior experience in Agile software development methodologies
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/delivery practices
- Experience with distributed systems and/or working in an AWS environment is a plus
