Job Purpose and Impact:

The Patent Specialist will handle the intellectual property affairs for the company with collaboration from senior lawyers.

In this role, you will advise and represent the organization on legal issues concerning patent, copyright or trademark matters under a moderate level of guidance and direction.

Key Accountabilities:

Provide legal advice on the patentability of inventions, infringement of patents or copyrights and the validity of trademarks.
Handle the intellectual property components of less complex business transactions, partnering with more senior lawyers on intellectual property components of complex business transactions.
Build knowledge of the organization, processes and customers.
You will serve as an expert in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues/problems. You may provide direction to lower level team members and be a key contributor.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field,
Juris doctor and licensed to practice law in current jurisdiction and an ability and willingness to be licensed in Minnesota and registration to practice in front of U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
Excellent communication, advocacy and drafting skills
Ability to problem solve using a creative, resilient and flexible style and approach
Confirmed ability to assess and handle risk
Minimum of six years of related work experience
