Working with Johnson & Johnson can change everything. Including YOU.
Johnson & Johnson is the world's most comprehensive and broadly-based manufacturer of pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Johnson & Johnson conducts research and development in a variety of therapeutic areas to discover novel therapeutic approaches to address unmet medical conditions.

J&J has a rich portfolio of small and large molecules driven by strong science and innovation.

The Chemical Process Research and Development (CPRD) department is seeking a
Pilot Plant Engineer to join our team in Belgium.

We have three state-of-the-art pilot plants in Beerse and Geel which support the development of new chemical processes and produce Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API's) used in clinical trials.

In Beerse, we have the
Chemical Development Mini Plant (CDMP) with small batch reactors and solid/liquid separation, drying and milling technology and the
Chemical Development Oligonucleotides Plant (CDOP) where we can support synthesis and processing of oligonucleotides.

In Geel, we have the
Chemical Development Pilot Plant (CDPP) , where we have larger batch reactors for clinical and commercial API production.

The pilot plants are constantly innovating their technology and data infrastructure to accommodate for future product and development needs.

After an extensive training the Pilot Plant engineer will become a plant expert covering both process equipment and the process control systems.

In this role, the Pilot Plant engineer is responsible for:

  • Support the production activities in the plant considering all compliance related requirements (EHS and Quality)
  • Lead optimization activities related to current and new chemical processes, making use of dataanalysis and experience.
  • Support operational activities in the CDxP: Management of change, deviation handling and investigations, continuous improvement programs and make use of LEAN techniques and root cause analysis.
  • Build up technical expertise around specific equipment and represent the CDxP in the shared technology teams together with J&J Commercial Supply Chain. Act as an expert in HAZOPs, Process Hazard analyses, audits,...
  • Represent the CDxP in CAPEX projects from a user perspective which is crucial for the ontime delivery of these projects: URS, input detailed engineering, input qualification requirements, organize and execute startup of the equipment.

You are part of a team of Pilot Plant engineers, plant managers and scale-up experts in the organization that are active in Geel, Beerse or both locations.

Now, we are looking for a Pilot Plant engineer that will focus on the first introductions in our CDMP plant and support the upscaling in CDPP.

A strong knowledge of both plants will be needed in the role and will be part of the training plan.

Flexibility to work in both locations is needed.
