Summarized Purpose:

Leads Scientific, Technical and business development aspects with in the Laboratory.

As a part of Protocol Review Team, Consults extensively with Business development and Clients aswell as other departments on new business timelines, technical and compliance issues, and project-related matters.

Works closely with the director of Scientific and Technical Affairs/Lab Ops, business development, and expansion initiatives.


Essential Functions and other Job information:

  • Interacts with business development directors, prepares and determines quotation.pricing, project initiation and scheduling as it relates to scientific and technical capabilities of the laboratory operations.
  • Participates in strategic planning, capabilities development, prepares projections, revenue tracking, and other financial related issues.
  • With Management, initiates and implements plans to develop and improve area in the Laboratory for greater efficiency, productivity, and quality. Oversees and coordinates projects between US,EU and Asia Pacific Labs. Works with QA department in improving laboratory quality.
  • Participates in client, QA, facility, and project audits and prepares responses to audits as needed.
  • Completes technical and scientific related special projects.
  • Serves as a liaison to 3rd party lab vendors handling and brokering outsourced lab services.

Job Complexity:
Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

An experienced lab professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways.

Supervision Received:
Normally receives little instruction on day to day work, general instructions on new assignments. Demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.


Business Relationships:
Represents the department as a prime contact on projects. Interacts with internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between functional areas. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.


Qualifications:


Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in Science or Equivalent

MT (ASCP) certification or equivalent certification


Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years) or equivalent combination of education, training, and expertise.

Knowledge of preparation and Review of SOPs, protocols and other technical documents

Working Conditions and Environment:

Work is performed in a laboratory and/or a remote environment with exposure to office equipment

Occasional commitments to site locations and domestic travel

Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms

Rare exposure to skin and lung irritants, radiation, toxic materials and hazardous waste.

Personal and Protective equipment required such as protective eye wear, garments and gloves.

Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in an upright and/or stationary position for 6-8 hours per day.


Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to mask fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands and wrists to operate lab equipment.
