About the job:

The Centers of Excellence (COE) organization is the strategic hub within Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP), providing issue and functional expertise, ensuring a central global perspective on the policy issues affecting our business, and developing strategies and positions for Google's regulatory and political engagement.

Within COE, the Privacy, Safety, and Security (PSS) COE is responsible for this mission in relation to privacy, security, children's safety, government access to data, and the intersection of artificial intelligence with these issues.

Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges.

The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy.

Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others' views and opinions, and distill and share the company's perspective on those issues with external stakeholders.

While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.


Responsibilities:


  • Shape Google's approach to diverse public policy topics such as artificial intelligence and privacy, privacy enhancing technologies, data transfers, ads privacy, and consent.
  • Partner with crossfunctional and local teammates to drive our holistic privacy strategy in Europe.
  • Monitor, develop strategy, and engage with stakeholders on legislative, regulatory, and policy initiatives.
  • Develop companywide positions, narratives, collateral, and programming.
  • Represent Government Affairs and Public Policy team with policymakers, civil society, and regulators. Participate in stakeholder forums, working groups, and industry forums, including travel to a variety of UK and EU member states when needed.
