Director Strategy and Transactions EIB account


With the impact of the Green deal and the challenging climate transition into focus, European institutions such as the European Investment Bank (EIB) are under increasing pressure to take rapid and decisive action.

Sustainable long term value creation, capital allocation and transition is at the heart of EY SaT' and EIB' strategy.

Climate change, access to finance, mobility are some of the most complex issues facing us today. It involves many dimensions such as economics, society, politics, governance, ethical questions. It is a global problem, felt on a local scale, with impacts today and in the future.


Therefore we are looking to expand our team with an expert focusing on Climate Finance, Investment policy, Financial Instruments, Impact modeling, Transaction advise, Capital Allocation analysis and Integrated strategic strategies.


The opportunity
The EY Strategy and Transactions (SaT) team is looking for market facing talented professionals able to formulate responses, strategies and analyses to the EIB or on behalf of the EIB in the fields of

  • Smart Growth, Social Infrastructure, Horizon Europe and SMEs Access to Finance;
  • Energy projects such as energy supply, enabling infrastructure, energy efficiency, energy intensive processing industries, innovation and new types of energy infrastructure;
  • Energy transition and low carbon technologies
  • Transport projects, including but not limited to roads, rail, urban transport, air transport, waterborne transport, logistic platforms, transport electrification and transport digitalization;
  • Natural capital accounting and strategies.
We are looking for colleagues to join us in Brussels as their home office.

You will be working for and behalf of the EIB as well as for corporates with an ask for EIB financing and/or understanding the impact of EIB mission on their strategies.


Your key responsibilities

You will work as a SaT expert in a team of professionals dedicated to providing services to or on behalf of the European Investment Bank (EIB).

You will be involved in projects which include technical support, project preparation and project implementation, market assessments and strategies, transaction advisory support, feasibility studies, evaluations, project management set-up of financing solutions, modeling.

Such projects may involve performing desk research, data collection, policy advise, data analysis and report drafting.


In the capacity of business development, you will build relationships, initiate contacts and participate in the preparation of EIB tenders and proposals.

You will manage the administration and financial aspects of ongoing projects, liaise with colleagues throughout the EY Global Network and coordinate multi-sector projects.


EY's Strategy and Transactions (SaT) practice, that advises clients in all aspects of capital allocation decisions, including Sustainable Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, Transaction Diligence and Transaction Integration.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A Master's degree in a relevant discipline such as engineering, economics, European affairs, green economy & sustainability or related fields;
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience with a demonstrated track record of successfully implementing EU and EIB funded projects.
  • Good knowledge of the EIB and European Union Institutions policies.
  • Working experience for or on behalf of the EIB or similar international institutions;
  • Knowledge on European Infrastructure, financing policies or initiatives either directly with the European Institutions or consultancies;
  • Working experience with project assessment support, project preparation support, project implementation support, project monitoring and verification, advisory support, capacity building, knowledge creation;
