Financial Controller - Brussels
Hybrid working 2 days from home 3 days in Brussels office
Our global client offers a one stop payment solution and as part of their growth plans they are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to be based from their Brussels office
As Financial Controller you will play a key role and possess comprehensive oversight of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, as well as managing the day-to-day accounting functions for projects based in Brussels.
Collaborating closely with the Financial Director and other senior leaders, key objectives include upholding the accuracy and integrity of financial information, providing crucial support for strategic decision-making, and actively driving financial performance.
You must have a strong background in finance and accounting, with proven expertise in financial management, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of Financial Services industry regulations, best practices and accounting standards (IFRS - BeGaap) with at least 2 years of experience in a managerial role.
You will also:
- Oversee financial reporting and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related disclosures
- Analyse financial results and key performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations to senior leaders to support strategic decisionmaking
- Manage the daytoday accounting functions of the business, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies
- Support the Financial Director in identifying and mitigating financial risks and opportunities
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior leaders, department heads, and business unit leaders
- Line manage a finance analyst providing guidance, training and mentorship
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information, including financial statements and related disclosures, in compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA designation preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role, with at least 2 years of experience in a management role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and financial reporting standards (BeGaap and IFRS)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and communicate financial information to nontechnical audiences
- Prior experience with both NetSuite and Exact is essential
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously and prioritize effectively
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial reporting systems
- Fluent oral and written skills in English and French are essential
