What you will be doing


As a Business Developer at Donkey you will work directly with B2B partnership expansion in our flagship Antwerpen operation, which means that you become an expert within the market, key stakeholders and the bike-sharing system currently deployed there (a more detailed description of the operation is attached below).


You will be responsible for selling our Donkey Republic B2B solutions (fx corporate cycling plans, local sponsorships, etc) and collaborating with Donkey Republic's team in Antwerpen and our HQ BD and Client Success teams to secure those opportunities.


You will also attend events and conferences to gain market knowledge and connect with industry professionals, city officials and other key stakeholders.


You will work both individually and as part of a larger B2B taskforce in the BD team to pursue new opportunities, follow up on leads and present our products to potential clients.

You will also be the one responsible for negotiating the contract and closing the deals.


About you
The bike sharing industry is a complex industry.

We are looking for someone with a structured way of accessing information and with the ability to translate complex information into simple solutions everyone can understand.


If you have some of the characteristics below, you are well on your way to becoming part of the Donkey squad.


  • You are passionate, enthusiastic and have a track record as a successful business salesperson
  • You are structured and organised when accessing information
  • You are able to process complex information and act as an expert within your field
  • You pursue new opportunities with energy
  • You have experience with stakeholder management
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, comparably to a native speaker in Dutch/Flemish
  • You ideally have experience within the microshare mobility or with selling B2B

What is our Business Development team like?
Your future colleagues on the BD team consist of many different nationalities with energetic, yet diverse personalities. We work tightly together as a team, support and have deep respect for each other. You will be able to rely directly on this team in HQ, along with our fantastic Client Success crew.

In addition (and a big plus) is that you will be working in Antwerpen, as our arrowhead, and very closely coordinated with our City Manager and the local Antwerpen operational team.


Here's how we expect you to progress:


After 1 month:


  • You are familiar with the teams and have a fair understanding of the projects and challenges we are tackling.
  • You are familiar with other teams and have a fair understanding of what they do.
  • You feel comfortable with our daily workflow.
  • You are comfortable with the CRM tools and project management tools we use
  • You can pitch our product and draft offers independently
  • You have a basic understanding of the market trends and competitors

After 2 months:


  • You are able to identify areas of improvement and take initiatives to act on them.
  • You have a clear overview of the market trends and competitors, and you know how to use that information for our strategy in Antwerp and the Belgian market.
