Function

As part of the M&A - Business Development team, you will be responsible for creating long-term value through identifying and attracting new investment opportunities in the field of electricity transmission infrastructures.

The M&A - Business Development is a function responsible for the inorganic strategy and relevant activities across the Elia Group, from identifying new business opportunities, shaping and landscaping the transaction environment and identifying concrete investments, to the execution of the deals including due diligence process and ultimately negotiation of transaction agreements.

The M&A - Business Development team consists of a small and agile group of professionals fully supporting the Elia Group strategic agenda by identifying and delivering on the prioritized strategic external growth opportunities.

Under the responsibility of the Head of M&A - Business Development, your key duties will include the following:
Research of industry related information to support the M&A and business development strategy definition, identify market opportunities and the preparation of Information Memorandum or Valuations
Support the head of M&A - Business Development in performing critical analysis of sellers' business plans, including on the operational and tragic dimensions, and prepare detailed buy-side business plans (P&L, B/S, Cash Flows) when required
Perform valuation analysis with the relevant valuation methodologies (including DCF, trading and transaction comps, etc) depending on deal type and stage of target's development
Assist in performing analyses on optimization of the financing structure, in advising how to get strategic projects funded and in preparing financing requests

Your Profile

Master's degree, MBA or postgraduate background in engineering and/or economics
At least 2 years of experience in tier 1 utility, technology industry, consultancy firms, funds, investment bank, private equity fund, and/or in similar positions in a corporate development team
Analytical skills in financial modelling and valuation, while also mastering corporate & business strategy concepts
Exposure to broader M&A processes including strategic reviews, due diligence, structuring & negotiating key principles in legal documentation etc.
Strong project management skills, being capable to work in teams with a wide variety of backgrounds and lead them to success
Your brain buzzes with curiosity and a never ending desire to learn and improve yourself and our organization and processes
Strong communication & interpersonal skills
Flexibility and high motivation
Fluent in English with working knowledge of at least Dutch and/or French
Strong understanding of Excel and how it can be applied to corporate finance
