Position Summary:
The VP for EMEA Government Relations position is a management and advocacy position.

It is responsible for managing a team working on public policy, legislative, and advocacy on energy/biofuels, agriculture, trade, and human and animal nutrition in the EMEA Region.


The position will:

  • Coordinate all ADM public policy advocacy on EMEA energy/biofuels, agriculture, sanctions and trade, and human and animal nutrition issues, with input and collaboration from business partners and functional groups, including Sustainability, Communications, Regulatory & Scientific Affairs, and Legal and Compliance departments.
  • Advance ADM public policy and business priorities with key government stakeholders in the MEA region where ADM does or will seek to do business. Educate and engage stakeholders on ADM's corporate strategies to help position ADM as a partner of choice, including by developing advocacy strategies and stakeholder engagement plans
  • Serve on ADM EMEA Country Managers and Crisis Management Committee and councils.
  • Maintain an issues management process and stakeholder engagement plans for EMEA regional business leaders. Provide oversight and strategic direction to association participation and staffing.
  • Draft strategy and budgets, manage personnel development and succession planning in coordination with the Vice President, Global Government Relations, to whom it reports.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead and coordinate advocacy and serve as point of contact for internal stakeholders on MENA legislative and public policy related to energy/biofuels, agriculture, trade, and human and animal nutrition issues.
  • Work with business segment, internal experts, and/or issue management team to: identify issues, frame business impacts and provide strategic analysis, develop issue management plans and policy positions, and develop and execute advocacy plans.
  • Develop stakeholder engagement plans and brief/coordinate meetings between ADM business management and government officials on aforementioned issues.
  • Provide proactive updates on policy developments that assess risks and opportunities for business colleagues to inform business strategies.
  • Manage trade association relations for all EMEA trade associations focused on issues listed above.
  • Manage Gov't Relations team in EMEA region as described in the position summary.

Requirements:


  • Expertise in energy/biofuels, agriculture, sanctions and trade, and human and/or animal nutrition issues in EMEA region preferred (core issues).
  • Established stakeholder network in Brussels and/or MEA governments, public policy groups/think tanks, and associations related to core issues above.
  • Advanced expertise in issue management, advocacy, and, association management.
  • Experience in problem solving when public policy issues arise, including proactive identification, framing, and strategy development to address a risk or opportunity.
  • Ability to credibly explain complex policy issues to internal stakeholders and ADM business to government officials.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, analytical, collaboration, and cultural skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex portfolio, deadlines, and executive visits.
  • Record of high ethical standards and personal integrity.
  • Demonstrated initiative, strategic thinking, and results.
  • Minimum education required: Undergraduate or Advanced degrees, preferred.
  • Minimum work experience required: 10 years in the EMEA region in the private sector.
  • Languages: English (required), French and/or Arabic (preferred).
