Your role & work environment
As an intern in the ESG team, depending on how long the internship will be, you will work on 1 or 2 projects: (i) market study of what ING Belgium's competitors provide in terms of sustainable products & services to their clients and, in case the internship is for 6 months, (ii) provide an inventory of all existing ESG-related policies, subsidies, actions and ambitions at Belgium federal and regional level


The ING Belgium ESG team, together with the relevant teams across the organization, has designed the ESG programme, with various ESG initiatives to implement our 2024 vision of 'Low carbon society for all'.

The team is facilitating the execution of the ESG roadmap and monitoring its progress through various metrics and KPIs.

In parallel, the ESG team is a centre of expertise in charge of bringing the fast-growing ESG developments to the relevant parts of the ING Belgium organization, in terms of products & services, market trends, regulatory evolution, stakeholder expectations, etc.


Your key responsibilities:


Project 1:
Market study of ING Belgium's competitors in terms of sustainability offer


  • Decide on scope of direct competitors: banks, financial services providers, others
  • Identify products é services in sustainable lending, advisory, investment, other financing solutions (bonds, commercial finance/trade receivables financing, leasing, supply chain financing, etc), hedging
  • Identify partnerships with third party providers
  • Identify products & services characteristics, regulatory content, pricing features, target audience, etc

Project 2 (6-month internship) Analyse existing sustainability-driven policies, actions, regulations & ambitions for Belgium, at federal & regional level

  • Describe Belgium's action in terms of climate, transition, mitigation, adaptation
  • Belgium NDC (Nationally Determined Contribution) to the Paris Agreement
  • Existing energy transition plans
  • Budget & resources mobilized, subsidies
  • Sectordriven initiatives
  • Existing & expected regulations & initiatives
  • Focus on E, S & G
  • Identify potential future trends & initiatives

  • University degree (ongoing), preferably with a sustainability-driven orientation
  • Student job experience is a plus

  • Ability to use MS Office tools: particularly Power Point
