Better Europe Public Affairs is looking for a trainee to help our civil society clients make a better Europe.


We are looking for a motivated trainee to help us monitor and advise clients on a wide range of topics, from finance, sustainability, human rights and due diligence to company law.


Job description:

  • Track a specific set of policy dossiers relevant to our clients, including desk research and occasional contact with decisionmakers in the EU institutions
  • Build up and/or maintain your network in the EU institutions and beyond
  • Assist other staff in executing projectstructured work as well as responding to adhoc requests of clients
  • Attend and report on relevant "EU bubble" events internally and to clients
  • Contribute to Better Europe's visibility in the EU decisionmaking community, both inperson as well as online

Essential qualifications:

  • Strong political sensitivity and empathy
  • Basic knowledge of the functioning of the EU
  • Excellent written and spoken English and at least one other EU language

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in politics, campaigning and/or advocacy, at a local, national or EU level
  • Experience with our key policy areas

Remuneration:

  • Belgian _contrat d'immersion professionnelle (CIP) / _b_eroepsinlevingsstage (BIS)_
- _Net allowance of € 1 400/month

  • Contract for 6 months, with continuation possible afterwards
  • Parttime work possible (at least 80%)
  • Public transport reimbursement or bike allowance (€ 0,35/km)

Preferred start date:
Monday 2 September 2024.

This position is Brussels-based; although some work at home is possible (including an occasional week elsewhere in the EU), we expect you to live in Belgium and be present in our Brussels office (Schuman) at least two to three days a week, to learn the job on the spot.
