Now, the fabled Grand Hotel Astoria will re-emerge as Corinthia Brussels later in 2024, a beacon of elegance and luxury in the heart of the Belgian capital.

Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, the role of Shift Engineer at Corinthia Brussels offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of maintaining the hotel's operational efficiency and ensuring guest satisfaction.

As a Shift Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the interior and exterior of the hotel to a luxurious standard with excellent attention to detail and accuracy, while also ensuring compliance with all Belgian legal requirements.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend promptly to all guest and departmental repair requests, ensuring efficient resolution and mínimal disruption to operations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools, kitchen appliances, and mechanical room equipment to keep systems in top operating condition, identifying opportunities for improvements across the hotel's engineering setup.
  • Take accountability for identifying and carrying out all maintenance requirements, maintaining the highest standards for the safe operation of tools and equipment issued by the hotel.
  • Conduct nightly plant checks, meticulously record findings, and pass on reports to departmental leaders for proactive maintenance planning.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for job requests from other departments, communicate repair timelines, and ensure smooth collaboration with colleagues across various departments.
  • Regularly check stock levels, report requirements for ordering to supervisors, and maintain organized inventory to support timely maintenance activities.
  • Uphold service standards in every guest interaction, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in work areas at all times, utilizing provided signage and adhering to high standards of personal grooming and appearance.
  • Provide coverage for night shifts as required, demonstrating flexibility in working hours to ensure comprehensive maintenance coverage.
  • Report any new or developing engineering works to the Engineering Manager, contributing to proactive maintenance planning and addressing emerging issues promptly.
  • Assist in maintaining the physical appearance and operational efficiency of the hotel, encompassing physical, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects.
  • Support inventory organization and ordering processes to ensure timely availability of supplies and equipment for maintenance tasks.

  • To report any defects in the building, plant or equipment according to hotel procedure.
  • To ensure that any accidents to staff, guests or visitors are reported immediately in accordance with correct procedures.
