YOUR TASKS

At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research.
Supervise and support the elaboration of research proposals and the acquisition of funds in the broad field of global sexual and reproductive health;
Methodological support for qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis;
Contribute to strategic planning of research lines;
Maintain and extend contacts in Belgium and abroad, Operate international networks around global sexual and reproductive health;
Supervise and counsel master's students and doctoral students of the faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Assist in teaching activities of the Department with specific support in implementing the Apollo 8 framework and the globalisation of education within the Department of Public health & Primary care.
Contribute to the implementaion of the cluster health & globalisation within the department of Public health & Primary care.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Master's degree in social or medical sciences, or comparable.
Doctoral degree, preferably in (social) health sciences.
For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in writing proposals and acquiring research funding;
Knowledge of

- and experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methods;

A minimum of 5 years' research experience in global health related domains;
A minimum of 5 years' experience with research in the field of reproductive and sexual health and/or with research in resourcepoor setting (developing countries, vulnerable/hard to reach populations)
Publications in (inter)national peerreviewed academic journals that are widely disseminated.
Presentations and lectures at scientific conferences;
Good social skills, able to inspire and motivate;
Able to maintain an helicopter view and define balanced priorities within a divers package of tasks and responsibilities;
Flexible, able to deal fluently with shifting needs and circumstances;
Communicative, able to communicate fluently and convincingly both orally and in writing;
Strong problemsolving and organisations skills;
Show initiative;
Able to work both autonomously and in an interdisciplinary & international team;
Excellent working knowledge of English and Dutch; good working knowledge of French is an asset

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to three years, you can apply.
The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term.
Your appointment will start on 1 May 2023 at the earliest.
