What you will be doing


Following the Umicore RISE 2030 strategy and the ambition to grow as a circular materials technology company at large scale, this position contributes to the expansion of the Rechargeable Battery Materials and the Battery Recycling Solutions businesses by developing and executing projects in the domain of Chemicals compliance and Product Stewardship.


As Product Stewardship Manager, you:

  • Contribute and support the BU's on product and regulatory compliance with a high focus on REACH, CLP and international chemical regulations
- by maintaining, updating, developing and managing technical content of REACH registration dossiers relevant to the BU
- by collecting, analysing, processing and coordination of relevant information to support registration dossiers
- by interacting with external and internal stakeholders and serving as focal contact point for technical/scientific content
- by anticipating and analysing international chemicals regulations and assessing and evaluating the impacts for the BU's activities and products
- by developing and implementing the required processes with the BU contacts to ensure compliance

  • Provide expert advice on product compliance and regulatory guidance to internal and external customers
- by keeping up to date and competence development in the regulatory field
- by understanding of the BU's products and business and close collaboration with relevant departments (e.g. sales, R&D,)

  • Anticipate, identify and evaluate potential regulatory business risks and provide regular input to internal key stakeholders
- by representation and content delivery in technical/scientific committees of REACH consortia
- by active participation, contribution and evaluation of the work by the relevant consortia and active participation and contribution in meetings
- by collecting and providing company data to support the technical activities of the consortium
- by budget management and decision making with focus on the BU interests

  • Responsible for the SDS & label management of the BU
  • Functioning in a team with colleagues from the BU (sales, R&D, logistics,) and corp. EHS
  • Implementing labelling practices tailored to the business needs by developing strategies building on existing and new processes (where applicable)
  • Implementing GHS in different regions across the world
  • Serving as expert contact point on SDS and label related questions for both internal and external customers
  • Coordinating SDS and label availability and activities across the BU

We are looking for a colleague with:

  • 3 years of experience with chemical regulatory affairs in an industrial environment
  • Strong working knowledge of REACH, CLP/GHS and associated guidelines and tools
  • Experience and working knowledge with other EU and global chemical regulations is a plus (eg. Korea REACH, China REACH, US TSCA, CEPA, UK REACH)
  • Knowledge and experience with the BU's chemistry and products is an advantage.
  • Experience with SAP EHS is a plus
  • Good level of technical and scientific knowledge
  • Profound understanding of the impact regulatory systems might have on businesses
  • Good written and oral communication, both in detailed technical and nonexpert communication
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment, use of own initiative and readiness to take ownership for assigned tasks
  • Drive and results orientation with a proactive approach to work
  • Critical and creative thinking, problem solving and decision making
  • Good teamworking, interpersonal and networking skills to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary and international teams
