Building Management System (BMS) Engineer for Data Center ProjectsWe are seeking experienced BMS professionals to join our design consultancy firm, specializing in innovative and sustainable solutions for mission-critical data center infrastructure across Asia.
In our collaborative office environment, you will work alongside multi-disciplinary teams of electrical, mechanical, and IT engineers to deliver high-performance control systems that optimize energy efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
This role offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies, including AI-driven predictive controls and IoT integrations, in a fast-paced setting that values creativity, continuous learning, and professional growth.
Positions are available at Engineer, Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer, and Design Manager levels, with opportunities for hybrid work and regional travel.
Job Levels and Experience RequirementsEngineer: 5+ years of hands-on experience in BMS, PLC, or DDC systems design and implementation.
Senior Engineer:
7+ years of experience, with proven leadership in design delivery, stakeholder coordination, and mentoring junior team members.
Principal Engineer:
10+ years of experience, including strategic oversight of complex projects, innovation leadership, and contributions to industry standards.
Design Manager: 12+ years of experience in BMS design and project management, with a track record of leading teams, client relationship management, and delivering large-scale data center projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and optimize network architectures for BMS systems, ensuring seamless integration with data center mechanical, electrical, and IT infrastructure.
Produce high-quality design drawings, including schematics, layouts, and control logic flow diagrams, using tools like AutoCAD or Revit.
Draft detailed specifications for BMS, Critical Power Management Systems (CPMS), and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS), aligned with client standards, industry codes (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA), and regulatory requirements.
Provide expert advice on cost-effective and energy-efficient solutions, incorporating cost-saving designs and value engineering to meet project budgets.Develop point schedules, I/O lists, and sequences of operation for control and monitoring of field devices, including PLCs, DDCs, HMIs, gateways, and network components.
Prepare comprehensive design and tender documents for BMS vendors, including performance specifications, scopes of work, and bid evaluations.Conduct design reviews, condition surveys of existing systems, and feasibility studies to identify upgrades, non-compliances, or optimization opportunities.
Collaborate with E&M engineers on site coordination, containment systems, and integration of extra low voltage (ELV) components.
Support project execution through site diagnosis, debugging, commissioning assistance, and integrated systems testing (e.g., FAT, SAT, SIT).
Lead or contribute to upgrade projects, system migrations, and the implementation of AI predictive control systems and IoT applications.
Prepare Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) in coordination with mechanical and electrical teams.
Embrace innovative design solutions and emerging technologies to enhance system performance, sustainability, and resilience.
Travel to project sites and client meetings across Asia to facilitate collaboration, inspections, and stakeholder engagement.
For Design Manager level:
Oversee BMS design teams, manage project timelines and budgets, foster client relationships, and drive strategic initiatives for process improvements and team development.
Required Qualifications and SkillsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Strong understanding of networking principles, protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, BACnet, TCP/IP, SNMP, OPC), topologies, and common control signal types (e.g., analog, digital).
In-depth knowledge of control system components, including PLCs, DDCs, network controllers, gateways, switches, media converters, microprocessors, HMIs, and control wiring.
Basic proficiency in data center electrical power delivery, mechanical cooling systems, HVAC operations, and MEP integration.Familiarity with SCADA interfaces, control philosophies, and logic programming (ladder logic experience advantageous).
Experience with vendor products and topologies from leading manufacturers (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, Rockwell, Allen-Bradley, Johnson Controls, Schneider, Delta, Distech Controls, Phoenix Contact).
Proven ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment, with excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Keen interest in continuous learning and professional growth, with a proactive attitude toward adopting new technologies and enhancing expertise.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management tools, and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit for markups).
Advantageous Experience and Skills
Professional certifications such as Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP), BMS platform-specific credentials, or energy management qualifications.
Knowledge of IoT applications, AI predictive controls, and sustainable design practices (e.g., net zero carbon initiatives).
Experience in ELV systems, industrial automation standards, or data center Tier certifications.
Background in project management, including scope, schedule, and budget oversight.
