Through in-field scientific engagement with healthcare providers (HCPs) and external experts, the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) fosters a more educated healthcare environment by:

  • Communicating their deep knowledge of ViiV data in the context of overall patient care to ensure evidence-based understanding of the science behind ViiV medicines
  • Gathering valuable insights on ViiV products and services and on medical and scientific information to better understand patient needs and evidence gaps

Your responsibilities:


  • Engage in onetoone scientific dialogue with external experts around ViiV medicines enabling them to confidently discuss our portfolio with patients and the wider medical community and ensuring they are knowledgeable in identifying the right patient for the most appropriate medicines
  • Act as an expert speaker at promotional and scientific events to disseminate information to larger groups of HCPs while stimulating clinical dialogue to gain different views and perspectives.
  • Implement and optimize medical digital excellence projects
  • Respond to unsolicited requests for medical information from HCPs in a factual, balanced and scientifically rigorous manner via the appropriate channel.
  • Act as the interface between the professional healthcare community and the internal ViiV medical team to bring in valueadded insights that inform Medical, Commercial and R&D activities.
  • Disseminate important safety information to HCPs as and when this emerges.
  • Foster a collaborative working relationship with Account Managers and Commercial colleagues.
  • Partner with matrix colleagues (sales, marketing, market access, etc.) to ensure strategies and business plans are both patient and business focused and adding value to the external experts
  • Provide scientific education training for business partners such as the Account Managers by being the local scientific expert for our HIV medicines
  • Coordinate local ViiVsupported Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) and provide support to Clinical Operations for global ViiV sponsored studies (from setup to study close) involving Belgian sites
  • Maintain a level of expertise in the evolving scientific / therapeutic area and on competitor medicines
  • Attend scientific meetings and congresses to keep abreast of the evolving science in the field of HIV and to confidently debate and discuss the science with external experts as presented at the meeting.
  • Fully understand and comply with ViiV standards and policies and with local codes of practice, guidelines and laws to ensure the strictest requirements are met.

Basic Qualifications:


  • We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:_
  • Higher degree in life sciences: PhD, MSc or equivalent
  • AND/OR other professional healthcare provision qualification with experience (e.g., physiotherapist or pharmacist)
  • AND/OR a significant (e.g., 3 years) amount of pharmaceutical industry experience in a role successfully engaging in scientific exchange with external experts.
  • Fluent in French, Dutch and English (spoken and written)
  • Soft skills:
  • Strong scientific, analytical and creative mindset
  • Demonstrates a compelling vision, high ethical standards and a patientfocused mind set
  • Selfstarter who works independently, takes initiative and challenges the existing
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to develop relationships based upon trust and mutual respect

Preferred Qualifications:


  • If you have the following characteristics it would be a plus:_
  • Medical Degree
  • Expertise in infectious diseases and/or HIV
  • Strong academic background having participated in, or led research projects and authored publications
