As a Process Engineer you will help with the design of the new Umicore Battery Recycling installations of the future.

Based on process information from Research and Development, you ensure a correct translation of Umicore 's process knowledge into practical data on which the engineering and technology providers can base their work but also support the practical elaboration of the design with detailed process calculations and risk analyses.

Work out the process for the various technological steps in block flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances, process descriptions and digital twins, in close cooperation with the Process Engineering Manager and based on information from Research and Development, research institutes and technology providers.

Together with the team, you identify the necessary tests and calculations to complete this process design, develop the approach and/or test programs, process the results and report on this to the project manager.

Where necessary you check and adjust the process data of the technology and engineering partners involved.

Process calculations will be performed by you to be able to carry out the engineering of the installations, such as calculations of pressure drop, flow requirements, material selection, ...

You provide basic information for drawing up the operational costs of the installations and draw up an operational work schedule.

During commissioning and start-up you follow the process checks and tests and make adjustments where necessary.

Certain equipment, materials and software tools are assigned to you and you are also a point of contact for their use.

By means of participating in trade fairs, lectures and conferences you follow new developments in our technology field.
Informing employees about new methodologies, technologies, products and safety is also one of your duties.

Holds a master's degree in industrial engineering: chemical, mechanical, process, materials, metallurgical and/or biological engineering.
You have at least 5 years of relevant engineering (EPCm project) experience.
Has basic knowledge of materials and extractive process technologies, methods and control.
Can work well in a team, is flexible and stress-resistant.
Very fluent in the English language in word and writing.
Fluent in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Is strong in presentation techniques or is eager to master this completely.

Is willing to travel to technology and engineering companies and the final location of the BRS recycling plant (Western Europe).
