We are currently recruiting an experienced finance professional who will act as the business controller for the SU Netherlands and BeLux.
In this role, you are the speaking partner for the entity Managing Director in terms of all financial issues. You will actively participate and be a business partner in the company management, focus groups and month end discussions.

You will play a key role in financial planning:
scheduling expenditures, monthly forecasting and initiating corrective actions.

You will participate in the continuous improvement of functional areas to improve effectiveness and generate efficiencies.


To be successful in this role, you will be professional, commercially minded, analytical, collaborative, engaged, entrepreneurial and innovative whilst demonstrating a passion for finance and actionable insight in a collaborative environment.

The role can be based in Wateringen (NL) or Diegem (Belgium). Some domestic travel might be required and 3-5 days/year within Europe.


Your key responsibilities

  • Assist team leaders and stakeholders in creating financial data and figures leading to strategic decision making, emphasizing commercial insights.
  • Collaborate with the local leadership team to enhance the visibility of financial performance and key business metrics.
  • Collaborate with accounting staff to monitor and manage levels of customer credit, payment terms, debt collection, and bad debt provisioning.
  • Maintain accruals for incentive bonuses, commissions, and rebates, fostering a culture of financial accountability within the organization.
  • Participate in financial planning activities, including monthly forecasting and initiating corrective actions.
  • Prepare monthly financial analysis and controlling information for business managers, focusing on revenue, gross margin, variances, costs, and other KPIs.
  • Control additions to and retirements from fixed assets, ensuring adherence to group policies.
  • Ensure compliance with group and IFRS policies in revenue recognition and maintain cost centre master data appropriately.
  • Take ownership of legal activities for different countries/entities within the Benelux region.
  • Manage contract management for the Benelux region, including lease & rental contracts, dealer contracts, etc.
  • Act as the first contact person for all legal actions regarding Leica Geosystems Holdings BV and requests from different European Leica offices for official papers.
  • Handle approvals, invoices, payments, and legal matters for the Belgian & Dutch entity.
  • Be the intermediate for audit accounting companies in cooperation with GBSB
  • Additional duties may be assigned from time to time._

Your profile

  • Several years of experience as business controller or business analyst. Experience in dealing with complex business & accounting problems in a matrix, multicountry business.
  • Proven budgeting, financial & managerial accounting, and reporting skills.
  • Basic knowledge of IFRS.

Fluent English and Dutch. Knowledge of French is a strong asset.

  • Skilled in using
    SAP ERP R/3.

  • Previous handson experience in accounting preferred.
  • Knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management, Business Warehouse, or similar reporting and business intelligence systems.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite. Advanced skills in MS Excel preferred.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills, including capability in providing direction and feedback to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Efficient in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Solid and reflective judgment, with a profound ability to ask the right questions even though they might be tough.
  • Show logical decision making and a handson approach in daily tasks.
  • Able to plan your work in accordance with corporate deadlines in a fastpaced environment
  • Strong sense of urgency, responsibility, and accountability.
  • A solid track record as a value adding leader of a similar sized department.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
