Position:


The Future Projects and Exploration Team is in the Technology and Applications Division which is part of the Systems Department.

The Future Projects & Exploration Team Lead will lead and participate in Phase 0/Phase A/Phase B studies to analyse and design future missions and to prototype enabling technology.

Currently focusing on lunar In-Situ Resource Utilisation (ISRU) systems, Lunar payloads and solar power generation systems for various exploration missions.

The Future Projects & Exploration Team includes system engineers supported by engineers in other disciplines according to project needs.

Tasks and Responsibilities:


  • Lead the team in technical, programmatic and organisational tasks
  • Develop innovative concepts for a range of future exploration missions
  • Define and analyse system requirements, perform system design, architectural design, system modelling, and simulation
  • Conduct multidisciplinary optimisation and interface management for complex systems
  • Engage in system architecture definition and concurrent engineering for mission definition
  • Oversee the design, manufacturing, integration, testing, and operational deployment of ISRU prototypes
  • Manage and collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including international partners
  • Facilitate decisionmaking and problemsolving in highpace, innovative project environments
  • Maintain continuous communication with stakeholders, managing technical risks, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and constraints
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and technical documentation
  • Establish the Team objectives in accordance with the company, Department and Division objectives
  • Lead business development activities
  • Report periodically to the Division Manager about team and project operations
  • With the support of the HR team, initiate and follow the recruitment process for new Staff and Interns
  • Ensure the cohesion and good communication between the Team Members and with the other Teams/Division of the Company.

Skills and Experience:


  • Master's or a PhD in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Material Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in space system engineering (can include PhDlevel and postdoc experience), with a strong focus on space exploration and ISRU
  • Proven track record in leading complex space system development projects, desirably in lunar exploration
  • Demonstrated ability in integrated trials and technology testing in ambient or spacesimulated environments
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing multidisciplinary Teams and collaborating with international partners
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with proficiency in English
  • Resilience under stress and a proactive approach to problemsolving
  • Intellectual curiosity and a strong passion for space exploration and lunar missions.

Considered as Assets:


  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (e.g. Catia Magic)
  • Experience in working with governmental and space agencies (e.g., ESA, NASA)
  • Strong network within the space industry and academia.
