We are currently seeking an EHS Manager to lead employee development at our pharmaceutical and cosmetics facility in Wevelgem.

Wat ga je doen?:

As an EHS Manager you will play a vital role in supporting site EHS objectives through a range of responsibilities, including management consulting, training and development, inspections, audits, investigations, ergonomic reviews, and environmental regulatory evaluations


Your key responsibilities include:

  • Driving employee development: Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to create comprehensive learning paths for new hires and internal promotions. Expedite their journey to full productivity while ensuring a safe and sustainable working environment.
  • Training and Orientation: Conduct engaging new hire orientations and training sessions for both line production workers and office staff. Follow up with team members and supervisors to ensure integration and mastery of job skills.
  • Safety and environmental compliance: Develop, organize and provide safetyrelated training materials for new hire orientation, department safety meetings, and ongoing training requirements. Review and draft EHSrelated procedures and policies to maintain a culture of safety and sustainability.
  • Accident Response and Investigation: Respond to and investigate accidents, complete reports, and provide recommendations for corrective actions. Conduct interviews with employees and supervisors to ensure thorough documentation of results.
  • Safety Committee Leadership: Chair the Employee Safety Committee, coordinating monthly meetings to promote a safety culture throughout the facility. Act as the representative for the committee at Management Safety Committee meetings.
  • Environmental Programs and Compliance: Support environmental programs by evaluating regulations, writing guidance documents, and auditing system components for compliance. Coordinate compliance programs for various EHSrelated permits and provide support during audits by external organizations.
  • Hazards Identification and Mitigation: Conduct EHS inspections and audits to identify and evaluate hazards, prevent incidents, and provide recommendations for solutions. Collaborate with management from different areas to communicate hazards effectively.


You will report directly to the Site Director, playing a crucial role in shaping and maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.


Wie zoeken wij?:

To excel in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Prevention Adviser Level 2 certification
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field (previous experience in pharmaceutical operations is highly preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing learning programs, with a focus on new manager and supervisor development in a plant environment
  • Strong organizational and facilitation skills to deliver effective training programs and coordinate meetings
  • Proficiency in EHS management systems, hazardous waste and transportation regulations, and local, state, and federal compliance requirements
  • Expertise in OSHA regulations, particularly in ergonomics
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with teams at all levels
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements, best practices, and effective presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication abilities
  • Three to five years of experience in safety, environmental engineering, and/or industrial hygiene
  • Working knowledge of product reliability, blueprint reading, toxic and reactive chemistry, and hazard communication
  • Fluency in Dutch, French, and English (both speaking and writing)
  • Advanced computer and software skills (PowerPoint, MS Office, SharePoint, etc.)
