Opportunity:


We're looking for a highly motived and analytical accountant with great attention to detail to join our Brussels Business Support team.

You will be responsible for all accounting related matters and support the development of internal control policies and procedures.


Although most of your time will be spent overseeing the accounting workstreams of our Brussels office, you will also gain exposure to our UK parent company and headquarter.


Key Responsibilities:


As an accountant you will work closely with and be supervised by the finance manager on all accounting aspects of the company.

Your main role will be to ensure the day-to-day bookkeeping and to assist in a range of different financial reports, financial controls, spreadsheets, contract monitoring.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and oversee all financial accounting operations
  • Book our purchase and customer invoices
  • Ensure accuracy of our accounting
  • Support the preparation of regulatory reporting and annual audits in Belgium
  • Keep track of our internal expense system
Accounting

  • Purchase accounting and expense form
  • Sales report
  • Update of debtors and cash report
Client Contracts / Invoicing / Credit Control

  • Overall responsibility for customer invoicing, as well as debt collection and recovery. Obtain proper information and/or data regarding invoice payments
  • Filing of contracts / engagement letter
  • Obtain proper information and/or data regarding invoice payments
  • Prepare all fee and expense invoices for approval by client teams
  • Control the sales process and maintain sales spreadsheets
Purchase invoices / staff expenses

  • Review all purchase invoices to ensure correct posting and approval process
  • Assemble invoices to be completed for payment
- preparation for payment batches

  • Post business transactions, process invoices, verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records and provide other clerical support necessary
  • Reviewing all staff expense claims, getting correct sign off and process for payments
Bank accounts

  • Performing bank reconciliations
  • Preparing payments for the Finance Manager
Time sheet and project management

  • Set up clients and projects on Dynamics
  • Manage projects (budget entry, project closure)
  • Assist Finance Manager in liaising and coordinating with other Brunswick offices for international project set up and cost sharing
Auditors, external accountants, and statutory accounts

  • Assist Finance Manager in preparing documents for the auditors
  • Prepare documents for yearend accounting
Management account/reports

  • Completing the TB (Trial balance) and updating the management account (back up to the finance manager)

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:


  • 1 to 2 years of relevant accounting experience in a consulting, big four, corporate or highgrowth environment
  • Strong analytical & communication skills
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, Excel in particular
  • Experience with statutory accounting and tax requirements
  • Fully proficient in English and French. Any other language is an asset, in particular Dutch
  • Rigorous, good organisational skills and excellent at meeting deadlines and setting priorities
  • Ability to understand and deal with cultural differences, as well as different working methodologies between countries and continents
