Who we are supporting


The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO's member countries and its partners.

The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO's communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
  • Command and

Control Systems:
The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO's military commanders to plan and execute operations.

  • Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
  • Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO's mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.


Overall, the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATO's communication and information technology capabilities.


The program

Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS)
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATO's principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider.

It provides, maintains and defends the NATO enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure to enable Allies to consult together under Article IV, and, when required, stand together in the face of attack under Article V.


In order to provide these critical services, in the modern evolving dynamic environment the NCI Agency needs to build and maintain high performance engaged workforce.

The NCI Agency workforce strategically consists of three major categorises:
NATO International Civilians (NIC)s, Military (Mil) and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC)s.

The IWCs are a critical part of the overall NCI Agency workforce and make up approximately 15 percent of the total workforce.


Role Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the DCIS VTC systems on a daytoday basis;
  • Support the NCI Agency NSII VTC Cell in the daily work related to DCIS solutions (DF's, CGS,
  • MiniPops, B2B Gateways);
  • Act as the primary customer interface to the DCIS user community;
  • Interface to the CES Service Line for DClS related centralized resources (e.g. datacenters);
  • Support potential exercise throughout NATO territory;
  • Provide on the job training if required by DCIS user community;
  • Update existing or create new documentation for the maintained solutions, e.g. drawings, Standard
  • Operating Procedures, User Guides; Develop training modules for the NATO School in LATINA within the DCIS CP149 training plan;
  • Use information about problems and incidents to analyze availability challenges and eliminate chronic issues;
  • Participate weekly/monthly status meetings with Service Lines, Demand Management or the user community;
  • Responsible to achieve SLA targets, handle incidents coordinating Incident, and Problem managers.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Fluency in both spoken and written English.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of command and control (C2) systems;
  • Very good working experience of/with protocols: H.323, SIP, SIPoTLS, HITP, HTTPs, SSH, Telnet DNS, SMTP, API, NTP, SNMP;
  • Worked with common monitoring solutions, e.g. CA HP, for minimum 2 years
  • Worked in a network, Operation center or service desk function with customer and user contact in a minimum 3 years;
  • Practical work knowledge in network environment areas, such as VTCoIP, Serial VTC and/or VoIP;
  • Very good knowledge about Routed Network Environments and Switching Network Environments;
  • Experience in documentation of solutions, maintaining user / administration guides and stepbystep instructions;
  • Practical experience in the use of modern concepts and accepted industry standards for configuration management, quality assurance and testing.
  • Five years' operation and configuration experience of Polycom VTC endpoints and MCUs;
  • Five years' operation and configuration experience of Tandberg Cisco VTC endpoints and MCUs;
  • High level operational and configuration knowledge of VTC management appliances such as; Real Presence Resource Manager, RMX MCUs, Distributed Management Application (DMA ) 7000, Cisco MSE 8000
  • Five years' experience with design, deployment and configuration of VTC solutions including MCUs, management appliances and endpoints;
  • Broad experience with design, deployment, testing and evaluation of communications gateway Session Border Controller; ACME Packet, Cisco CUBE, Cisco VCS Expressway and Polycom RPAD;
