The Faculty of sciences - Cellular and molecular microbiology Department - is recruiting:
A lab technician for a fixed term contract (full-time, 1 year)


Context:


The Department of Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Sciences of the ULB, is looking to reinforce the Cellular and Molecular Microbiology group by recruiting a technician that could oversight and manage administrative and experimental activities carried out in the group.


Missions:

Play a key role in the experimental operations at Cellular and Molecular Microbiology group.

Perform the microbiological and biochemical assays.

Take a central role in building a strong experimental platform and interact with post-docs, PhD students and Master students

Be involved in the experimental design and the data analysis.

Report the results through clear presentations.

Provide academic support with the bachelor and master TP


Profile:

Hold a maximum of one master degree recognized by the FWB

A 3 years professional experience is mandatory.


General knowledge and skills:


We are looking for an enthusiastic person with experience in biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology, who will assist in instrument management and training of PhD students and will develop small technological projects of interest for the group.


Specific knowledge:


Molecular biology:
Cloning, recombinant protein production and purification.


Biochemistry:

Basic protein chemistry (SDS-PAGE, Chromatography, Western blotting, CD spectroscopy), Basic enzyme kinetics (monitoring enzyme activity), Basic crystallography (protein crystallization and crystal manipulation).


Biophysics:
Basic macromolecular biophysics (Isothermal titration calorimetry, TFA, chemical denaturation of proteins)
