Power Trading business platform overview:

The power business platform is at the heart of ENGIE's CWE power activities. It is providing hedging solutions both for renewables, thermal assets and downstream customers.

Early 2016 the Energy Transition Services department (ETS) was launched within GEM with the ambition 'to accelerate the energy transition through market solutions'.

Today we are managing a wind & solar portfolio of 6 GW including 3.5 GW in Germany.

The Power Trading platform is also in charge of developing long term PPA across Europe:
a development which started in Spain 2 years ago in collaboration with the country platform.

YOUR contribution:

Context
Today at RES Trading, we are managing a wind & solar portfolio of 12TWh production across CWE market. We also manage Guarantees of Origin (Goo).

It is our strong believe that an exclusive focus on renewables will be an excellent opportunity to boost your trading expertise and make your mark in the profitable buildout of our CWE renewables portfolio in a lean startup-style working environment.

The new role should allow you to expand bigly upon your network. You will learn a lot from the close involvement in the pricing of different types of prospective renewables PPA contracts

The team is looking for 2 new traders located in Brussels.

Role
As Renewables Trader in the RES Trading team we expect you to:

be Pnl driven, and respectful of your risk mandate,

- be an excellent team player, within your own team and across others (Short term trading, pricing, origination, structuring, quants, IS, GMA ),
- show a continuous drive to uncover profitable trading & hedging strategies ,

Manage short term trading strategies across CWE markets (Day Ahead, Intraday, Curtailments),

- be able to perform pricing, develop/improve models and adapt hedging strategies,
- assist in developing and monitoring performance measures which will be instrumental to the expansion of our portfolio (cooperating with pricing, origination),
- assist in developing flexibility solutions to manage the intermittency of the portfolio in a cost-effective manner,

About YOU:

Hard skills

Analytical and quantitative skills, combined with a handson approach,
Good knowledge of office tools as Excel as well as interest,
Strong understanding of information management tool and trading systems,
The capability and/or interest in code languages (Python etc),
A good understanding of accounting mechanisms (both industrial and trading), of market finance (hedging, derivatives, etc), of the power business and associated trading strategies are required,
The use of trading transaction systems will also be required

You have also a high level of integrity,
Well organized and proactive,
Able to perform during specific reporting cycles with tight deadlines,
You are eager to learn, tenacious, with a strong business drive,
A real team player able to transfer your knowledge, and able to coordinate the inputs/actions of various units

Education and professional background
You have at least 2 years experiences in managing a renewables portfolio

Languages

You are fluent in English
Other languages are a strong plus (French or German)
