Your team and your responsibilities:

Team/division description
***The Vehicle Performance Engineering division (VPE) is part of R&D at Toyota Motor Europe Technical Centre in Zaventem, Belgium.

Our division is in charge of:

Identifying market requirements and trends and turning them into development targets for vehicles and their subsystems
Proposing reasonable designs and structures to achieve the market requirements
Validate the performance of prototypes through physical testing
Researching state of the art and beyond stateoftheart technologies for implementation in future vehicles
Developing the stateoftheart methods to set these requirements, predict the performances and validate them

The Reliability & Strength team is responsible for the structural durability and strength of the body-in-white and chassis.

Your project

Within our team, you will work on the development of an algorithm to detect certain driving events in big data (e.g., driving over a speedbump) and estimate the forces experienced by the vehicle during these events.

As the forces are not measured on the vehicle, they will need to be derived from indirectly correlated sensors through machine learning.

Collect training data to develop the algorithm in a measurement campaign together with our vehicle testing team.
In collaboration with our simulation team, enrich the data using multibody dynamics simulations.
Train and test the algorithm.

Your Profile:

You are fluent in English (TME's business language)
You have a background in data analysis and science including machine learning techniques, experience in Python (Scikitlearn, statsmodels, keras, ) is an asset
You have some basic knowledge of mechanical engineering, testing
You have strong analytical problem solving skills reinforced by good common sense
You are a quick and eager learner with a flexible mind and good eye for details
You are a team player with good communication skills inside a multicultural environment
You are selforganized and can manage your time
