European Aluminium, founded in 1981 and based in Brussels, is a member-based industry association representing Europe's most complete and thriving metals value chain.

Our 100+ members include primary aluminium producers; downstream manufacturers of extruded, rolled and cast aluminium; producers of recycled aluminium and national aluminium associations, representing more than 600 plants in 30 European countries.

We are looking for a full-time junior industry and sustainability data officer to join our Industry, Market Intelligence and Trade team.

This role is responsible to support the team by collecting and analysing industry datasets related to market intelligence with a focus on aluminium industry and sustainability data to develop our aluminium industry knowledge and our industry advocacy with facts and figures.

Reporting to:
Director Industry and Market Intelligence

Main tasks and duties

Industry Statistics & Market Intelligence
Collecting and processing of industry data (e.g., production, consumption, by market end uses) from the aluminium producers in Europe with respect for confidentiality
Supporting the team for extracting and analysing customs trade data (on regular and on ad hoc basis) for various aluminium products
Sustainability data collection & analysis
Supporting the team on other data collection / analysis related to sustainability (e.g., safety, environmental and life cycle assessment data) with respect for confidentiality
Supporting the team to further develop further recycling / circular economy (e.g., aluminium waste & scrap) statistics with respect for confidentiality
General support to the Industry, Market Intelligence & Trade team
Supporting the team for data aggregating and visualisation of the results (e.g., graphs, tables) in ad hoc MS pack office solutions (e.g., Power Point, Excel, Word).
Assisting the team in organising (e.g., logistic and content support) the various committee meetings, and the Spring & Autumn Meetings (twice per year)
Supporting on ad hoc basis members related to their market intelligence, trade and sustainability data requests

Knowledge, experience, interests and skills

Relevant studies on university level: Engineering or similar, Economics, Business, sciences or similar
Strong analytical skills. Experience in collecting and analysing data. Knowledge of Life Cycle
Assessment (LCA) databases / software or data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau software) is a plus.
Excellent knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
Strong organisational skills, ability to work in team and willingness to help and learn
Ability to work autonomously, ability to prioritise workload effectively
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
An interest in EU affairs and in sustainability matters
