As VAT accountant you will be member of the VAT & Intrastat team which is part of the Finance Operations Center of Excellence.
You will perform accounting and financial activities in the VAT & Intrastat area to improve the efficiency of services provided to Europe and EMA Countries. Identify process improvements, implement and follow-up on actions to improve internal controls and ensure adherence to policies & procedures.

Main responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for the timely and correct handling of all matters concerning the day to day bookkeeping, preparation of the VAT returns and other related returns (IC listing, Client Listing & Intrastat) of a specific assigned portfolio for more complex VAT countries (ex Swiss, Belgium, Spain)
- Guarantee timeliness and correctness of all VAT returns and other related returns and follow up on possible corrections
- Ability to understand and analyze specific VAT questions (e.g. import/export of goods, Triangle EU transactions,...)
- Assist in the process development of future VAT, help to ensure the company is ready for VAT in the digital age (ViDa)
- Review of reconciliations of other VAT accountants in Blackline
- Perform closing transactions (eg. VAT clearing/postings for own portfolio) and audit assistance

qualifications Fluent knowledge of English
- Bachelor in Accounting - Master in Tax or equivalent
- Strong compliance mindset
- Autonomy, anticipation, responsiveness, hands on mentality and team spirit is key
- Very organized and consider yourself an excellent planner
- Good professional communication skills towards managers, peers and other stakeholders
- You have good Excel skills and a problem-solving attitude. Knowledge of SAP is a strong plus
- Experience in guiding and coaching junior staff members is a plus
