Mission:

The Quality Assurance Manager (QAM)

Sofware will belong to the Quality team that is assigned to the business stream « Aeronautics, Information and Security products » (AIS), which is in charge of the development of products in the following Thales major markets:
Defence, Security, Aerospace and Ground Transportation.


The main purpose of the QAM role is to ensure that product software developments activities, deliveries and provided services are performed according to international standard(EN/AS9100, ISO9001, AQAP2110, ISO/IEC 15408, ISO 27001, EN/AS 9115) in order to satisfy the certification process and its associated requirements.

he/she leads dedicated teams and makes sure that technical and non-technical requirements, and Quality standards, are met. Supports Products, Bids & Project teams in identifying and resolving problems. He/she works closely with key players in Engineering, Industry & Supply Chain, Services, Purchasing and Suppliers.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Assure compliance of the quality process in line with the Thales Quality Management System and its according certifications.
  • Assure quality process in line with the Thales Quality Management System and its according certifications
  • Act as the interface between the Bid & Project teams, Engineering teams, production teams.
  • Liaison with Customer Quality and Government Quality Representatives
  • Define, manage and coordinate the necessary tasks with the engineering team in order to realize the functional verifications, validation, qualification and certification of our new products.
  • Liaise with the Quality Manager, Project Manager and Head of AIS products.
  • Coordinate with the System Engineering Manager and the IVVQ Manager to assure coherence between development, functional verification and certification.
  • Manage Risks & Opportunities of certification aspects with the Project Design Authorities (= Technical Leader) and propose the related mitigation plans throughout the bid or project.
  • Participate to technical meetings and peer reviews together with the architects and other stakeholders (industry, services, specialties ), in order to support the solution technical assessment and validation.
  • Participate in the definition of the architecture, and the allocation of security functions, to the components for which engineering has primary responsibility.

In bid phases:

  • Participates in preparing bids and adjusting processes to the context, while making sure that all the stakeholders are involved and that clear governance rules are observed.
  • Assesses the progress of the bid and makes sure that all the critical steps, decisions and actions have been taken before each decision review, including measures to manage risks and opportunities. Boosts visibility through official support (AQ Advice*).
  • Makes sure that plans are made to reduce risks and make the most of opportunities relating to outsourced work.
  • Writes the Quality Assurance section of the bid.

In Project phases:

  • Makes sure that the technical and nontechnical requirements of the Customer are recorded, understood and managed efficiently by all the members of the Project team.
  • Ensures that the project deliverables comply with the customer's requirements and with the applicable norms and standards.
  • Guides the Project team in defining and adjusting the Project reference system, and validates the resulting plans. Adjusts Quality Assurance actions to make sure they focus on the risks, considering the maturity of the Project team.
  • Assesses the execution of the Project (in relation to the plans): Evaluates deliverables through peer reviews, and ensures visibility through AQ Advice, based on the feedback and vision of the Quality managers in each profession.
  • Makes sure that measures are planned and taken to reduced risks and make the most of opportunities relating to outsourced work.

In Product development phases:

  • Monitors the participation of key contributors
