    We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced structural biologist to join our Discovery group. The successful candidate will support different projects, providing structure-function related insights, and collaborate in a cross-functional setting to drive the discovery of new therapeutic agents. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in protein structure determination, molecular protein modelling and drug design, with experience working with membrane proteins being a plus.

    The job is based in our facility in Zwijnaarde, Belgium.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Support structure determination of antibodies and complexes thereof using X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy.
  • Collaborate with research teams to analyze structural data and interpret results in the context of molecular function and disease pathways.
  • Contribute to the design and optimization of protein expression and purification strategies to facilitate elucidation of structure-function mechanisms.
  • Contribute to the identification and leveraging of computational tools and algorithms to address recurring scientific challenges.
  • Identify and proactively address suboptimal aspects of the role, working with the team to implement improvements.
  • Desired skills, experience and challenges:

  • Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related field with a demonstrated expertise in structural biology.
  • Strong knowledge of various structural analysis techniques, such as X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, or cryo-electron microscopy, and associated computational tools.
  • Experience in using software tools for protein structure prediction and molecular modelling in a Linux environment is a strong asset.
  • Experience working with membrane proteins is a plus.
