Climate Change and Health Traineeship

Background
EPHA is a change agent - Europe's leading NGO alliance advocating for better health.

As a member-led organisation made up of public health NGOs, patient groups, health professionals and disease groups, EPHA works with relevant policy and decision makers to provide thought leadership and strengthen the voice of public health in Europe.


We are currently looking for a master's student or graduate who wishes to deepen their knowledge of EU policies, particularly in the area of Climate Change and Health.

Ideally, an intern should be able to commit to at least a 6-month traineeship period.


Key responsibilities
Support the work around Climate Change and Health

  • Conduct exercises to map stakeholders / positions / policies in reference to climate change
  • Reach out to target audiences / policy makers / NGOs / academic working in climate change, planetary health and pollution
  • Prepare written outputs for publication on the EPHA website and Social Media, and for communication with members / policy makers / stakeholders on topics concerning the work of the cluster, including exploring cobenefits for reducing environmental pollution and health
  • Helping prepare surveys and report on results
  • Help to organise events on behalf of EPHA, such as upcoming events on the health effects of climate change on health, and the health cobenefits of climate change mitigation and adaption, and attend such meetings, including coordinating logistics and planning of events
  • Proofread documents and presentations, make suggestions about improvements
Support the general work of the Global Public Health Cluster:

  • Carry out desk research on health topics, mainly focussed around the impacts of climate change on health, including currently less commonly known interactions
  • Attend cluster meetings
  • Work with the Senior and Junior Policy Managers, including joining for meetings, including work on clean transport, clean cooking, indoor and outdoor air quality, environmental pollution, climate change, AMR, crossboundary health threats, the EU Global Health Strategy, and health in the European regional neighbourhood
  • Liaise with other teams, including Communications
  • MSc student/graduate, preferably but not necessarily in an area related to (public) policy, advocacy, public health, law, economics or social studies;
  • Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written, to present and produce highquality written outputs;
  • Strong project management/organisational skills to keep the overview of tasks and prioritise;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Interest in global public health and climate change.

Conditions

  • Fulltime position
  • Minimum duration for traineeship: 6 months
  • Paid traineeship under Convention d'immersion professionnelle (CIP) benefit of euros/month
