At Flowchase, we're a young company founded in September 2020, from a mix of private and public funding and currently a team of 8.
We rely on audio signal processing and Machine Learning to recognize multiple aspects of speech, and then provide useful personalized feedback to learners.
Our goal is to help English learners speak clearly and confidently to land the job or promotion of their dreams.

Zoé, our CEO and co-founder (hi, it's me) Robin, our CXO and co-founder Xavier, our CTO Killian, our Product Manager Prernna, another ML specialist working on her industrial PhD whilst working at Flowchase Noa, our Curriculum Designer Mia and Marco, our two Mobile Developers
About the role
We're searching for a Senior Speech Scientist with a background in Machine Learning and a passion for supervising PhD students.
You'll be joining a team dedicated to making an impact in the world of EdTech by developing innovative algorithms for learning English pronunciation.
Additionally, you will co-supervise an industrial PhD student in collaboration with academic professionals like Professor Thierry Dutoit.Requirements:
What You'll Do:

Improve and Maintain Speech Technology: You will lead the continuous enhancement of our ML models, ensuring reliability and accuracy for our global user base.

Innovation: Use your expertise to develop new algorithms, keeping us at the forefront of speech science.

Research & Publishing: Contribute to the scientific community with regular research papers and conference presentations.

Grant Writing: Spearhead the writing of proposals to secure funding for our R&D projects.
Degree and Experience:
- You have a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or AI
- You have a strong knowledge of signal processing in speech, mathematical modelling and AI
- You have research experience (PhD/Postdoc level) as demonstrated by publications pertaining to deep learning for speech recognition You have experience in deploying research into production
Technical Expertise:
- You have experience with Python, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Kaldi, Docker, Bash, C++, etc.
- You have experience with version control tools like Git
- You have experience with training and using transformer models for NLP (e.g., HuggingFace)
