    The Center for European Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts is offering a research stay fellowship for a junior postdoctoral scholarship holder in the field of the philosophy of digital culture with research expertise in at least one of the main issues concerning (image) perception, imagination, cognition, (aesthetic) experience, narrative, fiction, gaming and artistic practices in virtual and augmented reality environments.

    Position

  • You will prepare a postdoctoral research project proposal and submit it to the FWO postdoctoral call , that, if successful, will give you the opportunity to further develop your research for another three years on the basis of a full time position.
  • You will also consider the opportunity to submit your research project proposal to the MSCA call .
  • You will assist in ongoing research projects in the field of the philosophy of culture and the activities of the Center for European Philosophy.
  • You will help coordinate project proposals in the field of philosophy of digital culture and contribute to attracting external funding.
  • You will fulfil a limited number of teaching activities, e.g. by presenting your research in research seminars and classes.
  • Profile

  • You hold a PhD in Philosophy that you have obtained after October 1st or will obtain before the 1st of June .
  • You have expertise in the continental tradition of philosophy, aesthetics and/or in the philosophy of culture at large. Specialization in the field of philosophy of technology is recommended.
  • Your research interests and your research expertise are in line with the research profile of the

  • Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp's .

  • What we offer

  • We offer a fulltime appointment for a period of five months. In case a candidate prefer a part-time appointment, the period can be longer (max. ten months).
  • The planned starting date is 1st of September . Starting date and period of appointment are negotiable.
  • Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the for postdoctoral scholarship holders on the pay scales for Contract Research Staff (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).
  • You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
  • You will do most of your work at the City campus in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
