Digital Communication Officer (including Social Media & EU Projects)

Are you passionate about social media, digital communication and health? If so, you may be the professional we're seeking to join us in the fight against cancer and the delivery of EU projects in Europe's Beating Cancer Plan and Cancer Mission

In other words, the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) is on the hunt for a full-time 'Digital Communication Officer' (Contrat à durée indéterminée - CDI).

Europe has a plan to eliminate cancer, and as a not-for-profit federation working in cancer at the European level, we can now take real action through its implementation - and that's where you come in.

Exciting and complex projects have been coming our way and we require a comms savvy enthusiast to work alongside our growing team of over 20+ colleagues from all over the world.

Team spirit can be found in buckets, with a very experienced Head of Communication and Communication Consultant (ex-ABC News Medical Correspondent) providing coaching and a wide range of development opportunities to the team of four Communication Officers.

  • You have previous experience working on social media and digital communication (highly desirable)
  • You can get creative in developing the right strategies to execute the communication aspects of our projects.
  • You love to plan and get into the details, ensuring successful project output in a timely and organised manner.
  • You can help manage a budget and report on spending, keeping a close eye on numbers and negotiating with external suppliers.
  • You know how to put together informative, nicelooking presentations with support from the team.
  • You enjoy taking the lead and being a coordinator when needed.
  • You thrive while multitasking and can be flexible to help elsewhere when asked.
  • You're interested in helping deliver Europe's Beating Cancer Plan through comms tasks in EU funded projects (EU Projects experience desirable)

Requirements:

  • Right to work in the EU and already physically based in Belgium with willingness to work in Brussels.
  • Native or nearnative level written and spoken English
  • ECO's working language. A writing test in English will be included in the recruitment process.
  • University degree / completed studies.
  • Representing ECO with professionalism and a friendly outgoing attitude.
  • While working for ECO, be committed to our mission. This includes abiding by our workplace values and rules.
  • Experience in the public health sector, with the delivery of the EU Cancer Mission and Beating Cancer Plan currently at the top of the EU's agenda
  • Experience with the innerworkings of a notforprofit organisation
  • Experience liaising directly with toplevel stakeholders from EU institutions
  • Opportunity for strong professional and personal growth in a mentoring office environment
  • Opportunity to contribute to the improvement of cancer policy throughout Europe, with the overriding goal of saving and improving lives
  • Opportunity to develop your career in a growing, dynamic organisation with development prospects for its team members

How to apply:

Applicants should be aware that the selection process may require completion of a written assignment in order to assess your abilities in this critical skill.
