Job summary
Oxygen sensing and cellular adaptation to hypoxia represent one of the most fundamental biological processes recognized by the 2019 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the discovery of the HIF (Hypoxia-Inducible Factor) pathway while its role in organ regeneration remains largely unexplored and poorly understood our laboratory has made several seminal discoveries on how hypoxia shapes liver regeneration following extended hepatectomy and prevents post-hepatectomy liver failure a major clinical challenge in patients undergoing large liver resections for cancer.
