- This role is offered to a limited number of students each summer. You will be part of our Brussels team for a period of 2 weeks between 1st July – 30th September 2023.
- You will be actively involved in the work of the office gaining practice experience in client work on a range of competition (antitrust), regulation and trade matters including cartel, abuse of dominance and other behavioural investigations, merger control, foreign direct investment screening, competition litigation, regulatory matters, state aid, public procurement, and WTO and international trade.
- You will be involved in assisting senior lawyers with client matters consulting and offering solutions on client issues (with senior support), communicating your progress to your supervisor and team members. You will also be involved in legal research, preparation of articles and presentations.
- You will support the firm and others by working as part of the international competition network with the opportunity to work together with lawyers not only from Brussels but also other offices in our network in particular working with our professional support lawyers in London and our teams across Europe and Asia.
- During your time with us you will also have the opportunity to participate in group meetings (in person and, with other offices, on video calls), training, know how events and social events.
- We're looking to welcome four bright and enthusiastic law students for a 2 week internship in our Brussels office, this will be a great opportunity for individuals wanting to pursue a career in law to understand and gain an insight into how our team works. You'll be working alongside Partners, Associates and Trainees daily who are happy to share what they know.
- This is a paid internship and will be based onsite, Monday – Friday. Please note, we do not provide accommodation.
- In order to be considered, you must:
- Be a 2nd/3rd year law student with excellent academics and a broad range of extra-curricular achievements and interests. Competition modules are highly desirable but not essential.
- Be fluent in spoken and written English with additional languages of HSF offices (in particular French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese or Mandarin) highly desired.
- Be a team player who has ambition to produce high quality work and thrive in an inclusive, collegiate and diverse team like HSF Brussels.
- Must have the right to work in the EU
- Be able to travel to our office or be happy to arrange your own accommodation
