Function
The Energy Management & Adequacy Departement's Ancillary Services Team is responsible for evaluating developments on the voltage and balancing services market, more specifically with a view to dealing with the growing use of renewable energies and the integration of the European energy market.
The Ancillary Services Team is also in charge of the sizing of balancing reserves and the development of reconstruction services to restore the grid following a blackout.
As Ancillary Services Contract Manager, you will be responsible in particular for drawing up contracts for the provision of ancillary services, governing the relationship between Elia and the suppliers of these services (producers, consumers, independent aggregators) and approved by the CREG.
You will translate the applicable participation, purchase, delivery, control and penalty conditions for these services into clear, precise contractual terms that comply with the terminology of the relevant Belgian and European legal texts.
To this end, you will:
acquire a good understanding of the services and work closely with the Product Owners, who are responsible for the design and supervision of each service.
ensure that the contracts are clear, comply with the design of the service in question and are consistent, both in terms of their structure and the terminology used;
notify the relevant Product Owners if you note any inaccuracies or differences in the approaches adopted for different services;
You work with the various departments involved (Customers, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, ) as part of the contract development and validation process;
partner with Product Owners to lead public consultation and CREG approval processes for contracts.
Your Profile
You have a university degree (Master's), preferably in a technical field.
You have at least three years' experience in the energy sector. Your system-based understanding of how the electricity grid works helps you to quickly identify and comprehend diverse issues. Knowledge of balancing mechanisms and the functioning of electricity markets would be a plus.
You have at least three years' experience in compiling contracts and/or use them on a daily basis, and have an affinity with the legal side of things.
You always know the right thing to say, can clearly explain proposals put forward by Elia and third parties, can negotiate and be persuasive when defending Elia's proposals, and make sure to achieve a consensus between different stakeholders.
You have an excellent command of spoken and written English as well as Dutch or French and are a proficient speaker of the third language.
