Discover Impactful Work:


Coordinates and performs a variety of complex sample and standard handling tasks in support of all aspects of the laboratory, follows SOPs and industry appropriate laboratory standards.

Leads major sample events, coordinates all aspects and directs Sample Management and laboratory staff. Deciphers complex protocols and assures the validity of sample requests enforcing SOP as necessary. Responsible for oversight, coordination, and continued development of the technical training needs of all sample coordinators.


Essential Functions:

Performs any or all Sample Coordinator functions to include oversight and performance of a variety of complex standard tasks and sample tasks (receipt, accessioning, routing, storage, aliquoting, shipping, discard, destruction, etc.) in support of the Sample Management department.

Oversees the scheduling of sample coordinators. Assists management with oversight of the department. Acts as back-up in the absence of management. Acts as a technical liaison for project-specific sample-management procedures.
Actively trains, mentors and assesses the needs of the sample management staff. Manages staff training documents, assessments, and records.
Responds to environmental unit alarms and participate in on-call responsibilities.
Performs work assignments accurately and in a timely and safe manner.


Experience:


  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to at least 2 years) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.
  • Years of experience refers to typical years of related experience needed to gain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Years of experience are not to be used as the only determining factor in establishing the job class or making employment selection decisions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:


  • Knowledge of inventory flow and control
  • Knowledge of laboratory and regulatory requirements (documentation, sample storage)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Effective time management and project management skills
  • Problem solving/troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
