Your team and your responsibilities:

Team/division description

The Vehicle Performance Engineering division (VPE) is part of the R&D group at Toyota Motor Europe Technical Center in Zaventem, Belgium.

Our division is in charge of:

Identifying market requirements and trends, and turning them into development targets for vehicles, their subsystems, and down to components
Performance development of passenger vehicles for the European market
Researching state of the art and beyond state of the art technologies for implementation in future vehicles
Developing the state of the art methods to set these requirements, predict the performances and validate them

Your project

Your objectives will be to further develop, expand and validate a prediction method to estimate the risk of road interference while driving over common road obstacles.

This method is mostly based on a simplified multi-body dynamics model based model and aim at reproducing the important vehicle behaviour related to its purpose.

Your role will be to study the existing model and new scenarii to predict, implement and correlate them with measurement data and, if required, correct or improve the model.

Special attention will also have to be paid on the user friendliness and simplicity of the interface for the future users.

You will be part of a diverse team with competencies in mechanical engineering, model base development and data science. You will have access to state-of-the-art prediction tools, measurement equipment and to necessary test data.

Your Profile:

You are fluent in English (verbal/written), additional European language skill is an asset
You have a background in mechanical engineering and a good knowledge of vehicle dynamics with experience on model based development for multibody dynamics.
Knowledge of simpack and matlabs are strong assets.
Knowledge in data analysis and science including machine learning techniques, experience in Python (Scikitlearn, statsmodels, keras, ) is an asset.
You have strong analytical problem solving skills reinforced by good common sense
You are a quick and eager learner with a flexible mind and good eye for details
You are a team player with good communication skills inside a multicultural environment
You are selforganized and can manage your time
