Duties:


Working in the Facility Management section of the Tri-Mission, the plumbing Team Leader supervises a team of 4 plumbers and carries out scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance and repair work in all mission buildings and facilities including residential owned and leased properties.

Job holder would repair, and install plumbing as needed to support a variety of systems including but not limited to plumbing building and mechanical systems, potable water treatment and storage, fire sprinkler, swimming pool and landscape irrigation.


Assists as needed various manual tasks such as:
demolition work, painting, plumbing, carpentry work, routine and preventive maintenance, and general clean-up of work areas. Team Leader also.

supervises the contract for water softener system for leased and government owned properties, including three Chief of Mission Residences (CMR), three Deputy Chief of Mission Residences (DCR), our warehouse compound and other buildings on and off the compound and spread throughout Brussels to include apartments and houses totaling 290 facilities.


Qualifications and Evaluations:


  • Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years' experience of residential and office building plumbing maintenance, repair, and construction.

In addition, 6 months supervisory experience as a supervisor with quality control and assurance and managing people and resources in.

Prominent construction or building maintenance industry is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of building plans and system data sheets. Knowledge of computer office systems and building automation systems.
  • Maintenance and repair of various building finishes and assembles, components, fixtures and furnishings utilizing plumbing and general building construction skill.
  • Ability to set up and operate a wide variety of plumbing working and metal machines, various types of power and handheld tools that meet accepted trade practices and safety procedures.
  • Ability to utilize various types of electronic measuring devices and recording instruments.
  • Testing procedures in control assembly tolerances, diagnose faults, determine current operating function to the design requirements, all in accordance with US and host country regulations.
  • Reading and working from sketches, architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and material list.
  • Education Requirements:


Completion of secondary school is required and/or completion of vocational training from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with a concentration in plumbing is required.

LANGUAGE:
Good working knowledge in English. Good working knowledge in French or Dutch with limited knowledge in the other language. This may be tested.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to identify problems or dangers, report issues and provide solution.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to answer queries from endusers.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, work under pressure and a tight schedule.
  • A flexible approach to work shifts and answer emergency calls at all hours.
  • A valid driver's license B.
