Context:

Degroof Petercam is an independent asset manager with a long-term investment approach, offering clients a complete range of services.

They have a fundamental equity franchise that aims to beat the market through high conviction stock picking, and they're currently seeking a buy-side analyst to join their team.


Your Position:


  • As a Buy Side Analyst dedicated to EU high dividend equities, your responsibilities will include:

In-depth fundamental knowledge build-up of high dividend equity universe:

  • Conducting deep dive research into certain sectors and subsectors to identify areas where interesting medium/long-term trends can drive abnormal returns
  • Using all available information (annual reports, sellside reports/calls, management meetings, financial models) to find attractive companies/stocks that are likely to outperform their peers/the benchmark
  • Strong focus on valuation and ESG related risks and opportunities

Generating relevant investment ideas:

  • Conducting research to identify investment targets across sectors that fit with the team's investment strategy
  • Presenting your ideas to the dividend team PMs and potentially to other interested PMs

Closely following up on portfolio companies:

  • Tracking quarterly results, earnings calls, capital market days, and daily newsflow to see whether the investment thesis of portfolio companies remains intact
  • Keeping track of stock price movements, trying to make sense of them, and flagging when a market overreaction might lead to an investment opportunity

Meeting companies in-person:

  • Attending investor conferences and meeting companies all over Europe

Working closely together with dividend team PMs:

  • Having a big impact on what actually happens in the portfolio
  • Challenging the PMs on their own trading ideas or on what is already in the portfolio

Integrating ESG/sustainability KPIs in investment analysis:

  • Identifying the ESG laggards and leaders within the industry and incorporating this info in your investment decision-making framework
  • Investigating ESG controversies of portfolio companies or investment targets and engaging with those companies in an attempt to drive a change when necessary
  • Closely collaborating with DPAM's SRI team

Your Profile:

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • A Master's degree (non-financial degrees are welcome too)
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in the financial services industry.
  • Passion for investing and sustainability.
  • Solid communication and presentation skills, fluent in English.
  • High independence and motivation.
  • Ability to work well with others towards common goals.
  • Commitment to agility, continuous learning, and improvement.
