The Laundry Attendant position assists in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Laundry, Linen and Uniform room. Ensures the highest standard of laundry services are provided to guests in accordance with hotel standards.

The Laundry Attendant will maintain all hotel linen and uniforms to the highest standard and assisting the housekeeping managers, the Executive Housekeeper strive to introduce innovation into the laundry operation and to participate in all aspects of the laundry operation in order to promote multi-skilling in the department.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keeps abreast of newest trends and innovations in the hospitality industry.
  • Generally being alert for opportunities to improve the profitability of the department i.e. through controlling wastage and being responsible for the economy of all utilities and resources.
  • Takes a proactive approach to the guest and inhouse laundry activity of the Laundry Department, anticipating potential opportunities.
  • Maintains effective communication within the department and ensure that the Executive Housekeeper is kept well informed of any problems/queries that have arisen.
  • Reports any problems/complaints to the Housekeeping Manager.
  • Liaises with other departments to ensure good communication and offer support.
  • Is fully conversant with the Corinthia Employee Handbook & London Addendum.
  • Follows and adhere to the established laundry work procedures and regulations.
  • Records and answers all incoming calls and to follow up and ensure that all services and requests are delivered on time and as per the hotel standards.
  • Executes and maintains accurate laundry records. i.e. bills, charges, pickup and delivery records etc
  • Participate s and performs any required laundry administration work.
  • Participates in all aspects of the laundry operation in order to promote multiskilling in the department.
  • Receives, records, stores, returns and clears all Lost and Found items as per the Hotel Policy.
  • Spots checks the Laundry store room, ensures supplies is ordered on time and compiles the weekly store orders for the department. Ensures that all store rooms and work area are neatly arranged and well maintained at all times.
  • Assists with the day to day operation where required within the Department.
  • Updates all records on a daily basis (outgoing and incoming from both the Drycleaners/ laundrette.
  • Updates daily costing for in house cleaning for both guest and staff/ soft furnishing etc.
  • Works with the Housekeeping team to implement a progressive, professional and committed team environment that supports the department's strategic objectives.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • To be aware of and comply with safe working practices as stipulated by the Health and Safety Act and as applicable to your place of work. This will include the incumbent's awareness of any specific hazards at the work place.
  • The wearing of appropriate protective clothing provided by or recommended by the Company will be obligatory.
  • To report any defects in the building, plant or equipment according to hotel procedure.
  • To ensure that any accidents to staff, guests or visitors are reported immediately in accordance with correct procedures.
  • To attend statutory Fire, Health & Safety training and to be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning:
