Angels In The Wood

The angels were resting. Wings folded. For a brief moment in time. Charmingly based on a bright star high in the wide open sky. They looked down and saw still some disbelief in the heart of the population. They looked at each other and decided to open up a new assignment. Two angels at each time working together in teams, would cover this operation. The download of the data to successfully run the assignment, started with utmost care. The golden light ran through the wings of the bright beings. 

A map moved. A point on the map selected. Angel eyes smiling in a secret language. Wings unfolding for the long flight downstairs. Some humans had wrinkles on their faces. Their shoulders carried heavy weights. It was sad to see from a an angel's point of view. The trees of a forest bending in the wind. The wooden houses were not too solid. The people were tired and lost hope. It was night. Electricity a luxury. Candles were becoming smaller and smaller. A man closed his eyes and prayed. Out of the blue with no expectation. 

The angel duo heard the voice of his heart. They listened very well. He longed for a meeting with his dog that passed away. If only he could hold him in his arms again. Just for a moment. The angels did not take his wish for granted. They believed that this wish was not impossible. From a close distance they saw the dog. It had always been nearby. Never left the man, even in the after life. Waiting from a signal from the forces from above, the dog watched the movements of theangels. No material desires for Christmas, only a warm heartspoken form of love.

A sound outside. Seemed like a tree came down and knocked on the door. The man was not afraid. With the light of the last candle he opened the door. He was right. One of the trees lost its balance. When the man was planning to move the tree further away from the house, he saw two wooden objects. When he held the objects closer to his eyes, he saw something special. The shape of two angels covered the wooden objects. He touched the angels and in that moment, the time lost all its so called power.

He heard a dog barking. He could not believe his eyes. It was his best friend. His beloved dog was here and now. The dog recognised his master and could not stop licking his face. The joy on the old man's face was touching. So sweet. A smile appeared. Unexpected. He looked ten years younger at once. The dog and the man spent the whole night together cuddling and talking as only two hearts that really love each other can. The angels gave them much more time. The next morning the old man woke up. He remembered the experience into the finest details.

His heart was filled with the deepest love. His dog was barking with gentle vibes. He turned around to look for the dog but the dog was gone. The sound became more silent. In the corner of the room two wooden objects fell on the floor. When he saw the images of two angels, he knew in his heart that it had not been a dream. He brought his hands to his heart and thanked the angels for their gift. They were shining for joy. They say that angels listen so well, even from a far distance, that whenever they notice a deep loving wish, they will go the extra mile to make it happen. Each time. Without ever failing. Over and over again. With love and faith everything becomes reality ...
