Catch the Star
A scene returns every night. The clouds find comfort next to the moon. There is nothing much to it, I hear you say. They close their eyes and sleep. Sleep deeply. No sound. Nothing happens. Nothing at all. A frozen night. Like many others. The stars light up. They build a sort of community, all connected in darkness.
One night is different. A young star feels frisky. It falls down. A little child is outside, cannot catch sleep but it can catch a star. Why not? The little child is full of joy with the star as a new pet. It plays with it and then like any other child puts it aside and goes back in. The star feels lonely. It tries to get inside the house.
The little child is in bed now. The star follows the steps of the child and finds it in bed. Like a little teddy bear it finds comfort next to the child. They go to dreamland together. When the daylight enters the room the young kid opens his eyes. It is a boy, now you know. The child feels some presence, it is the star. It was not a dream, or at least the dream became real. Suddenly.
The star had a cute smile on its face. It looked joyful. The other stars observed their little buddy. It was safe. The child invited the star to take some breakfast. The parents were not surprised. They welcomed the new friend. Pancakes with maple syrup. The star ate it all. The parents and the child laughed. It was their first time seeing a star eating pancakes.
"Can I go with the star to the sky?", wondered the child. “Yes, you can”, said his parents. You may say that their answer is not so smart but the parents were trusting the universe. They had faith in a good outcome. The star took his friend to the other stars. The child had the time of his life and waved to his parents from above.
The little star wrote a beautiful word in the sky: maple … maple syrup. The child wrote also a word: pancake. Then they wrote more and more words in the sky, what a fun play. The sky was suddenly full of joyful words. The wind came and brought snow and then the words fell down the sky carried by little snowflakes.
The child and the star guided the snowflakes towards earth. But then it turned dark. It was night. Time to sleep again. The moon found comfort next to the clouds. The light in the house went out. The child slept in his bed. And the little star? It was ready for a new great adventure. You can try to catch the star or sleep. Good night.

To an Oldie like me this brings back memories of the Perry Como song.
Catch a falling star put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away
Catch a falling star put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day.
I hope the boy never let his star fade and it brightened up his rainy days
