Dating In The Job Market

Dating In The Job Market

A number of candidates looking for the perfect match. A series of companies searching for that one talent that really has it all. Expectations run wild. Everyone wants the best. A screening of demands and offers takes place, again and again. Sometimes it seems like dating. We also want to know if we can trust a person, that he or she has the intention to stay in the partnership with us on the long term and that he or she will love to be with us. From a business point of view the same questions matter.

We spend a lot of time in a company, time that really matters for the company and for us. We need to be able to bring the best to the table and we can only achieve that if we can truly be ourselves. In a lot of situations it feels that employees are requested to remain in one specific box. But reality is that every human being is so diverse. We all represent so much more than a single job description. Maybe we should look for a spark. Maybe we should say yes to the magic formula that brings the best to the surface of who we are.

Then coincidence appears on scene. Is it a matter of coincidence and luck that we come across the right fit? Is it a matter of readiness to find what we seek? Fact is that we need to know our own preferences and with that knowledge we can actively focus on those employers that match those preferences. Life is too short to cause tension. Good choices are made when the truth of who we are, is respected. Our core values can help us during this quest. It is a challenging journey for a lot of us.

Dating contains also an unknown factor. We cannot predict everything in life and that is positive. We do not always know if our choices are the best. It would be boring if we get a scenario at our birth in which all scenes are fixed. That would erase all joy of discovering who we really are and what creates our happiness and sadness. We have to accept that we also need to take some risks. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Not everyone has the same viewpoint in life and some people decide to simply let other people steer their future.

Maybe it does not matter too much what we choose as long as we keep on growing. In business and in love, we are asked to bring our potential to full expansion. That is what we deserve and that is what our environment needs to receive from us. Dating is a mutual exchange of potential. When growth takes place from both sides, inner peace unfolds naturally. The match made in heaven exists. Also in business. We need to be a little bit more patient to see our true value reflected in our choices. Let us believe that all good things take time. Clarity makes all the difference.

Liesbeth Leysen (1971) was born in Herentals, Belgium, to Belgian parents with French, German and Dutch blood. She grew up in Mol, Belgium, but as a global quadrilingual EN-FR-DE-NL business professional with a master in translation (Belgium) she spent a decade of her life in Germany (practical work experience), Luxembourg (4 years) and Switzerland (5 years). She returned to Belgium in 2015.

Her strong interest and passion for coaching and excellence in leadership and management resulted in a certified executive coaching certification at the renowned 'Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coaching' (US) and a Master of Science degree in International Management (UK).

Furthermore Liesbeth loves to learn and to apply helpful insights from multiple behavioral sciences such as psychology and anthropology to dismantle self-imposed and forced limitations in order to liberate the full potential of the individual.

As a little girl she was in love with books, she just could not stop reading. She is actively involved as Published Author, VIP and Brand Ambassador at beBee. Grateful for her own joyful reading experience, Liesbeth wants to set the hearts of her audience on fire.

Liesbeth discovered that her passionate purpose in life is to make a difference with truthful and emotional cinematic storytelling. She is enthusiastic to learn to master this craft more and more. Success starts with taking that first step in the right direction.

Liesbeth always follows her heart and her dreams. The driving force throughout her life is the awareness that we are the only one who can make our dreams come true. Therefore we need to embrace the role of movie director, assume full responsibility for our choices, decisions and actions to create thoses scenes that really add meaning and fulfillment to our lives.

“You have to really be courageous about your instincts and your ideas. Otherwise you’ll just knuckle under, and things that might have been memorable will be lost.”  - Francis Ford Coppola

Jerry Fletcher I believe in that too. It means that the person is really accepted and then this person will blossom. The employer will indeed benefit from that too.

Liesbeth, You said, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." So true. I believe that it is when the job accepts and stimulates that beauty that all in the contract reap the greatest profits.

Like it or not, taking risks is an inevitable and in-escapable part of life. Whether you’re grappling with the possibility of getting married, starting a business, making a high-stakes investment, or taking some other life or career leap of consequence, one of these days, you’ll wind up confronting your own personal high dive.

Great buzz   too many people ‘play it safe.’ This is the playground of mediocrity. It is where average people live. They colour inside the lines, and always play by the rules. They fear the unknown, and rarely if ever venture outside the boundaries. People who ‘play it safe’ are predictable. Their life is run by rules and routine. Their actions are often dictated by the opinions of others. This is the crowd that fights to keep things the same…

A great buzz by

This is a moving buzz . It really made me think. I take three ideas from your buzz to comment on. “Life is too short to cause tension. Good choices are made when the truth of who we are, is respected. Our core values can help us during this quest. It is a challenging journey for a lot of us”. Paradoxically, tension marketing bases itself on creating tension in customers to act. Disruptive tension takes us far-from-equilibrium, hopefully to self-organize into an orderly state out of chaos we are in. Sometimes, business may make us rather unethical. “We cannot predict everything in life and that is positive. We do not always know if our choices are the best”. I believe you redefine motivation here creatively. I dare to suggest a formula here. It is: Vagueness and curiosity = motivation. Brilliant idea my friend. “When the growth takes place from both sides, inner peace unfolds naturally”. This ties us very nicely with the content of my latest buzz titled “A Random of Thoughts”, particularly to the section discussing the separation of couples. When a couple grows much faster than the other a separation gap forms. I agree fully with you Liesbeth. Great writer you are.
