The Shower Scene

The Shower Scene

Her morning dress is light blue colored. She loves to wear it. She feels so free and moves as an angel so light. No expectations, no requirements, no need to hurry. She is slowly awakening and becoming more aware of the day. Her eyes shine brightly, she feels joy deep within. The bathroom - her favorite place - calls her name. An oasis of well-being and surrendering. She lights the candles. Then she turns the music on ... lounge ... this time, the best choice. The shower awaits her. He gently lets her in. The doors are open. Her morning dress kisses the floor. She feels wonderful. What a magnificent day. The water touches her skin gently. Water surrounds her, water above her, water around her. The sound of water drops puts a magic spell on her. She closes her eyes and feels every drop discovering her skin with curiosity. Love at first sight. Deeply, tenderly, overwhelming. Transparent as water she becomes. No thoughts. No worries.

In the bedroom a man opens his eyes. He stares at the door. It is closed. He tries to figure out the time. His watch has disappeared. His naked body is hiddden under white sheets. They are so soft, softer than his soul can ever be. He looks around. The entire room is waiting for his next move. His eyes are very active. He tries to figure out the time once more. Through the window the sun seeks a way to get in. He has so many questions. His head feels heavy. His stomach is out of balance. His muscles are not fully awake yet. The sound of cars in the street gives some indication. He is in Europe now. He remembers his travelling journey. His luggage is closed. His legs become more alive. Slowly he gets up. He takes the white sheets with him. He opens the door and hears a song coming from the bathroom. He walks towards the light. His eyes are half closed. His back hurts.

He enters the bathroom and sees her taking a shower. Her body is so beautiful. Her hair dances with the water drops. He stands still like a statue. Memories come back. His heart beats stronger. The candles welcome him and give him light. She does not know that he is observing her. She has her eyes closed. He sees flash backs. A woman is dancing. Guitars are playing. He forgets the time. His eyes rest now on her shoulders. She feels it. She notices his presence. She turns and looks him straight in the eyes. A shivering hits her deeply. He feels the same. The electricity between two souls gracefully holds them. So strong this feeling. She does not say a word. He cannot open his mouth. It is too overwhelming. They both stare at each other. The water keeps on running. The music witnesses how this moment seems eternal. The white sheets still cover him. A sudden phone call brings them back to reality. She expected a call. In slow motion she leaves the shower and puts her light blue morning dress on. He is left alone in the bathroom and looks at his face in the mirror in silence ...

I picture this scene in a Japanese apartment and it becomes very awkward, having to deal with the notorious one tatami mat unit bath, extremely powerful shower stream, robotic toilet with heated seat and all sorts of contraptions that make waste disposal a hands free experience. Not quite as romantic, but fun. Beautifully descriptive Liesbeth. Looking forward to your first book.
