HSE OFFICER - CABLE PACKAGE


The Client's Energy Island Project is about creating a new grid in the Belgian part of the North Sea for renewable energy.

It plans to connect up to 3.5 GW of power from offshore wind farms to the mainland.

The goal is to build an artificial island that acts as a hub for energy transmission, making use of other parts of the North Sea for power production.

This island will help distribute offshore production to different consumption centres.


The project involves several elements, including building an artificial energy island, offshore substations, and cable systems to connect the energy to the shore.

One of the key roles needed for the cable part of the project is an HSE officer.

This person will focus on health, safety, and environmental concerns related to the cable package, reporting to the Project HSE Manager.


The HSE officer's responsibilities include managing safety coordination, handling HSE issues within the cable package, ensuring compliance with HSE regulations, attending meetings, reviewing documents, conducting audits and inspections, and contributing to the project's emergency response coordination plan.


Requirements for this role include:

  • At least 5 years of experience in HSE management
  • Technical qualifications
  • Knowledge of offshore high voltage cable installation, and familiarity with Belgian HSE laws.
  • Good communication and leadership skills are important
  • Fluency in English (Dutch is a plus).
The position is full-time, based in Brussels, with occasional site visits. The start date is immediate.
